You'd thing if porting was that worth it that at least they wouldn't be losing money....

I don't think it was the ports. It was FFXIV. That game is one the biggest clusterfucks of all time.

They can't keep doing this. Another FFXIV failure and they could be in serious trouble.

Do you know what the problem with the industry is? It's not that HD games cost heaps to make, it's that the studios behind them are incompetent when it comes to time and resource management. How the hell can a game like Uncharted 2, Gears of War 2, Vanquish and Demon's Souls all be made for under $20 million and have such short development times and still look, play and run as well as they do. How can a studio like From Software, with only 200 developers, release 16 games in the last five years, but Rockstar San Diego can barely put out two.

Publishers like Sqaure Enix, 2K and THQ need to clean their shit up and become more efficient.

In their defense, Squeenix deserved to lose a whole lot more than that.

They'll bounce back though I mean they have Hitman, Deus Ex, Versus XIII, Type 0, XIII-2, Tomb Raider all of which should make a good profit I imagine

This is attributed to many things. Square-Enix has too many games in development at once or they put their games out for the wrong systems. They lost a month revenue off of FFXI subscribers due to the earthquake (which is a LOT of money). Also FFXIV continues to be a shitty WoW wanabe rip off that needs to be scrapped. They need to put more focus into the games they do and start to be more efficient.

I am happy to see this. SE has become terrible since the PS2 era. As said before, no more 6 year development cycles for all games, releasing garbage titles such as mind jack etc., and alienating their core customer group. GET FOCUSED

Porting it would bring in some money. Not a bad move for them.
