Forums - PC - World of Warcraft is d0med!!

http://kotaku.com/#!5800175/world-of-warcraft-suffers-post+cataclysmic-drop-in-subscriptions

In October 2010, two months before the release of the Cataclysm expansion pack, Blizzard reported that World of Warcraft had exceeded 12 million subscribers. Today Morhaime gave a figure of 11.4 million. That's 600,000 subscribers gone.

Ah.. the end is really near!!! Nooooooooo!! I blame Gamelofts Order and Chaos Online for the drop!

So i'm guessing this is it no more WOW what can they do with 11.4 mil that they can't do with 12 mil?  I blame Leeroy Jenkins!

Anyone who's breaking the law is obvious a criminal.

awww man thats messed up lol their d0med indeed lol.

In related news, the amount of "Real World" MMO players are growing by the second. Even with many subscriptions being terminated every day, new ones are created at a faster rate. I wonder how high it's potential consumer base is before it levels out?

This MMO is bound to become d0med in a short amount of time as well, however, unless the developers get that "Journey into Space" expansion completed soon. The players are getting antsy...

The thing is though i doubt that is 11.4m active subscriptions.

I know loads of people who used to play it all the time and have now walked away. So i'd imagine the active subs were a tiny fraction of that.

That's what happens when you don't breed, a steady population drop

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

As much as I dislike this style of MMO. I find it staggering that a MMO can lose over 600,000 subscribers and still has such a ridiculous sub rate.

It's dOmed? More like it's DOOMED!!!!!!!

Blizzard is doing this on purpose.

After all, how can they get any subscribers to Titan if they're all playing WoW?

They'll also probably have a combo deal of 20$ per month for both games. That will increase their membership dramatically.

No, those are actual active subscriptions as defined as being able to get online when you log in. WoW has soldmuch more than just 12 mil.
