with 40 gig not having backwards compatability i also wonder if there will be alot more ps3 returns than expected.

There will be barely any ps3 returns.
There will be RROD returns from the X360 like last year, basicly the X360 will barely make it to 20M in 2008 because of that.
The wii there might be returns, but I extreemly doubt it since it so cheap.

Because they don't want one :|
Currently playing: Civ 6
All will have returns, but no where near numbers like that.

for the 40gb,
1/ it is written on the box
2/ some people will be disapointed, but will it be enought to make them return their console ?

| StanGable said: After seeing the numbers I'm assuming most consoles bought were gifts from parents/family members to the actual gamer. Of course, families sometimes go with what retailers tell them is the "coolest fad" and sadly those sellers tend to be pretty biased to their console of choice. In my opinion, this week we'll see PS3 - Around 200k returned to stores 360 - Around 50k Wii - Around 100k Is there any way to track this sort of info btw? |
How do you figure more PS3's than 360's? I think your just a fanboy and wish that would happen. The 360 would definitely top that list. More console. sold alot more because of Wii shortages. The 360 also has one group of fans and thats shooter fans. Younger kids have nothing to play

imo much lower, why? don't have a clue

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.
I doubt if too many will be returned. Most people don't just buy their kids $350-$500 consoles + more $$$ with games, without knowing if they want it or not.
Also, anyone who returns a wii is really dumb since they can turn around and sell it for a tidy profit on ebay.
The BIGGER question is how many ps2's will be returned this week because grandparents/parents bought it instead of the ps3 because they didn't know the difference? (Thought of this because it happened to a lady at my office...thought she was buying a ps3 for her kids, but grabbed a ps2 on accident...didn't know there was much of a difference--lol, only about $300 difference!!!)
Well, I now only have access to a PS3 & 360...Plan on buying a wii soon (lol, if I can ever find one available!) but will probably wait until some of the major RPG's come out like Dragon Quest & Tales, etc.
Anyhow, I'm so far behind in games to play that I'm not in a huge hurry (lol, haven't even gotten a chance to finish God of War II yet!)
I'm basing this numbers on a few things
1) 360 main sales come from America and it's pretty obvious that even with the RRoD (which I believe has been fixed a while back, I dunno why people keep brining that topic up) America loves the 360
2)PS3 highest seller is the 40GB and like someone said not EVERYONE specially parents are aware of the lack of BC which I'm sure it's a big seller
3)Wii yes I agree that its pretty high in demand but you never know. A lot of the ebayers put a reserve amount and will not take any less for the item. This is my personal experience. Had I not sold my Wii for the amount I wanted I would've return it to the store. And the fact that the Wii numbers are so high the higher chances of more returns.
And FYI, I'm fanboy of non. I own none of the 3 next gen consoles cuz I don't believe in buying a product when its at its highest cost. I'm waiting for them to reach mass market pricing like the PS2. I do defend Microsoft some more than the others just cuz I'm sick tired of the biased love for Sony in Europe (cept for the UK, they're ok over there) even tho Sony is just as much of money whore as MS. The only one that deserves props for caring about gaming is Nintendo imo.
Returns are not very common in Europe (like they are in NA). Most stores will charge a restocking fee or even not take the item back at all.
Now in NA returns are common but I don't think there will be a huge return of one console compared to the others. Maybe the exception is the Wii since some people might just sell it for a profit and so less returns.
DS, PSP, PS3 and 360 should all see equal return percentages (unless lots of 360's RRoD in the next few weeks, j/k)
More interesting will be to watch the end of year adjustments. We know PS3/360 and Wii are a little over tracked in US/CAnada compared to NDP so it will be interesting to see how it gets adjusted when MS, Nintendo and Sony release their numbers.
