I bet Gears 3 will sell more than all them together. And Uncharted 3 will be half of the number.

I can count 3 or 4 that will sell more than 1mill.

You forget that each week we see 2 or 3 multplat games.

And? Th fact the most 360 gamers like Gears then other games just confirm my point.

If a new gamer like inFamous, Uncharted, MLB, Killzone, Resistance, Twisted Metal, etc more than  Gears will buy a PS3 instead 360.

Diversity has more public appeal... so PS3 is selling more.

I'm a perfect exemple for that... I loved Gears and Halo but didn't buy the 360 because there are more games I loved in PS3 (Uncharted, inFAMOUS, GT5, LittleBigPlanet, Heavy Rain, God of War III, etc)... so makes more sense buy the PS3 instead 360 for me.

To a console continue selling it needs games that make the difference during the year... 360 has only Gears 3... very little to please the majority of new buyers.

It has actually had noteworthy exclusives in the last few months.

The same reason many people like myself rationalized purchasing a PS3 early is the same reason people are buying one now.  I know that Nintendo Wii has made a lot of headway this generation.  (Dominating the competition) and the Xbox 360 has done much of the same.

But before this generation began,  I just couldn't shake the feeling that Nintendo was going to do what I felt they always do (Atleast for the past few generations)  have no third party to speak of,  have some really awesome exclusives but they will be few and far between.  (I believe much of this is coming to pass).

As for the 360,  I saw how Microsoft handled their original Xbox.  I felt they had a really good plan towards storming the market.  The pricing, the fanbase building in America in the previous generation, etc.   However, the major chink in their armor was they legitimately "Had no games" beyond ones that existed on the Xbox.  They had few quality first party developers and you could see very early on, their strategy was to steal Sony's exclusivity on games they could and combine that with their minimal first party and then they could compete with a lower entry point.   The problem is,  no one cares about Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, etc anymore.  And Halo and Fable and Gears are just blips on the overall landscape.

The PS3,  Came in with one fatal flaw, it's price.  I'll say it till im blue in the face.  The PSN not being great initially,  the relative lack of games (Which most consoles always release with) none of that mattered nearly as much as the price.  The price was so astronomical compared to it's competition that you couldn't ignore it.  It was one of the last consoles to release with the highest price.   But the thing that has saved the PS3 is it's games.  It's the same formula that Sony has used in every generation.   They over-whelm their owners with game after game after game.    The biggest surprise this generation in my eyes has been that the Sony first party developers (Have turned into AAA game developers)  which I never remember being the case in the PS1/PS2 generations.  (They always made great games, but not some of these masterpieces we have seen this generation).

In short, Nintendo isn't well equipped to dominate the console market IMHO and that is why this has been a much more all-around generation.   Microsoft,  just flat out doesn't care enough about it's gaming division in the landscape of their company (Atleast this generation)  to staffing the amount of developers necessary to produce games for their system.  Sony is in a great position (Finally closing the gap on price,  with a much better worldwide brand name, previous time as a market leader, tons of first party developers and pretty much universal third party support.).

It will be interesting to see which console performs well after the new consoles hit the market.  I have a strong feeling the PS3 will make some moves during that time frame (Much like the PS2) when it's cost is down.

Playstation domination shouldn't be such a surprise really, at least not at this price point. It's the 360 domination the should come as a surprise.

Remove the weekly sales of Japan for the 360 and the numbers won't change that much the same can't be said for the PS3 so Japan alone makes a big difference. PS3 wins hands down Japan.

Now for EMEAA, PS3 is supposed to be available in more countries than 360 so of course those country have no choice. PS3 wins in other countries.

Once those are cleared out, PS3 domination isn't that true anymore. The countries where both 360 and PS3 are available is either a "estastical tie" or mostly dominated by the 360 and the PS3 taking the lead in smaller markets.

Every weeks, the PS3 sells an average of 20-30k more than 360 to countries where it's not available and to Japan where 360 has no impact at all.

As for the Wii, now that it faces competition from Kinect and the Move, that it lacks new games and with the confirmation of a new console on the horizon, it's just normal that the sales slows down a lot.

That's not domination in my book. It's on par!

I disagree... in EMEAA PS3 outsell 360 by a lot in almost every big country except UK... German, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal are all PS3 land.

The small contries just make the difference more bigger.

And even without Japan... PS3 is outselling 360... by little but still outselling.

Face it 360 is just big in US and UK everyting else is PS3... even Australia is a PS3 land now.

And the weekly differece is bigger than showed at time weekly number out in VGC... look at previous weeks after 1-3 months and you will see what I talking about (VGC makes the PS3 leading bigger by future adjustments).

That's true most markets on EMEAA sells better on PS3, maybe it's the word domination that I don't get. Japan dominates yea but selling in more countries shouldn't come as a surprise that you sell more... anyway.

And to reply to those that keep dismissing USA (I'm Canadian by the way) maybe there is way more people outside America, but America is the bigger market, bigger that EMEAA so yea it's important.

@Jazz2K

I agree, US is the biggest and most important single market.

And guys, what games PS3 has this year that make it so superior to 360 releases?

Already relesed...

Little Big Planet 2
Killzone 3
MLB 11 The Show
SOCOM 4
Yakuza 4
PlayStation Move Heroes
Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel
Hyperdimension Neptunia

To coming...

The Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection
The Last Guardian
inFAMOUS 2
Journey
MotorStorm Apocalypse
No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise
PixelJunk Shooter 2
Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One
Resistance 3
Sorcery
Twisted Metal
UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception

All exclusives... and there are more... so what 360 has? Gears 3 and?

PS3 has at least two exclusives per month this year.

And how many unities each of these games will sell.

lololololol

kz3 and lbp2 already sold more then a million,kz3 will easily pass 2 million, and if lbp2 has the legs lbp does it can pass 3.5 million.

uncharted 2 and infamous 2 will surely pass a million, same thing for r3.

when it comes all for one, crack in one reached a million, so theirs a chance that all 4 one could do as, as long as it has a good story.

then their is twisted metal, wich is a wild card.

and i accept your bet, the loser will leave vgc. what do you think?

how is 360 domination a surprise? its best region from the start has been the us, while it has been ps3's weakes region(rank wise). other then that that 500 million budget for kinect adds was mostly used in the states, and then theirs the demographic of americans which makethe 360 a more useful console for them.

now when it comes to emeaa the 360 isnt availeble in countries in asia and africa. so lets add up numbers without those regions.

360:44.8k

ps3:60k

thats about a 15k difference. now we dont know how significant the sales in those countries in asia and africa are. because if the me gives us half of those sales and the significance would be minimal because the ps brand is huge their, and because the 360 is very poorly supported in that region.

also you cant count out japan its still important.
