Time for hype

He's right though. The story was sort of meh, and most of the optional missions felt repetitive like Assassin's Creed. However, the core gameplay mechanics were simply amazing. And it seems that the sequel isn't just going to put the story (?), graphics, animations, etc up on par with other games, but it's going to just fucking polish the core gameplay mechanic to perfection, and add a cherry on top of it (awesome powers) to top it off. inFamous 2 was imperfect, but unlike other imperfect games, it had an absolutely solid foundation. Now's the time it becomes a real AAA game. Only downside I can think of (before I actually play the game) is that there's no multiplayer. Edit: Another guarunteed downside is the good/evil system. I vaguely remember them promissing that the choices would become more ambiguous, and now they show those two good/bad heroines (ugh, bad one is so fucking... bad) in the trailers... I really wish games would get rid of a karma system altogether, and allow you to judge if an action is bad or good. |
Much like Assassins Creed it has the goods to stand the test of time. It also has a comic book about it so you can get back story. Second, why does there need to be multiplayer in this game? I understand everyones addicted to multiplayer but some games just do not need it. These are the same people freaking out about online when everyone knows the PS3 has more than enough offerings to hold us all off until PSN gets fixed. It's a compliment that compare InFamous to Assassins Creed when they are nothing alike aside from the sandbox aspect. They will be two great franchises while the Crackdown franchise, much like Too Human will remain just ok. Silicon Knights need to just give up and try something new.

Lol, Assassin's Creed is an awful, awful series. They symbolize to me the beginning of Ubisoft's change this generation. And yes, the two games are comparable in the aspect of how fucking repetitive the missions are.
Comic book=/=Game. In order for the game to have a good story the story needs to be in the game. All those expanded universe media doesn't make the story of the Phantom Menance any better.
Multiplayer takes games to a whole new level. A person (given a good game design) is infinetly better than an AI player. Playing with friends, speaking with them, etc make the game infinetly funner as well. And I really feel that inFamous 2 could have had multiplayer had Sucker Punch been braver and experimented more. How awesome would it have been to have 4-6 player match where you just have people flinging cars around , shooting rockets while in the air, etc. Or better yet, online co-op modes where you take on absolutely huge monsters or waves of enemies.
The beauty of the first inFamous was the chaos of the story missions, and how the core gameplay mechanics allowed you to go through it so smoothly. It wasn't just button mashing like some FPS games, or a slower paced cover based shooter. Rather, you were constantly shifting tactics, taking cover at one moment, running around at another, gliding, shooting, etc.

like always im not disappointed with this video...man Infamous 2 CANT come soon enough...i just hope it het what it deserves critically and sales-wise...
Why do I get a bad feeling that the game might get delay due to PSN being down and people's can't beta test the game.

they have inside testers.

I've kept my word and i only watched the parts where no gameplay was being shown. I want to hold out until launch without watching any more gameplay clips or spoilers. Can NOT wait for this game. Just started inFAMOUS 1 all over again for my 3rd playthrough now. Gameplay is so sick, love it. And am I the only one who thinks the voice actor for Cole in inFAMOUS 1 does an awesome job? I always wondered why Sucker Punch seemed to dislike his performance, bc I love it.

They didn't dislike his performance its just that he couldn't do motion capture for infamous 2.

Well for me Infamous is a half-assed Assassin's Creed with electricity. And I mean the first Assassin's Creed (which is a very good game though).
I'm half through the 2nd island and so far the game has been a pain to play and not much fun at all.
The core gameplay mechanic is solid with the vertical movement controls and the electricity attacks. But the rest. The story and setting is, well it's just plain bad. It doesn't engage me the least and the presentation is cheap (the comics of say Dante's Inferno, that's how you do comic type cut-scenes). And the missions are even more repetitive than Assassin's Creed 1. Kill, fetch or race in its simplest form.
Enemy variation is horrible. I am so sick of reapers and their counterpart on the 2nd island. And I absolutely hate the game's "dungeons", those awful ugly sewers where you have to jump a frustrating repetitive course just to put the power on for every city block.
And finally even the graphics are poor.
