Sweet, can't wait to pick it up.

Namco are going to need to advertise this game if they want decent sales, this game needs to sell well so they can localise the Tales of Vesperia PS3 content =).

;) it aint coming. if anything graces sales will determine future games like xillia and prob ngp and 3ds tales games.

That's exactly what they said about Graces, don't be so cynical.

They have already made the full game for the Playstation 3, the only thing they need is English VA for the extra content.

I loved the game on the XBOX 360 but that extra content just teases me so much.

Ugh only on the PS3.  Games I tend to get on the PS3, which aren't many, don't seem to get played haha.  Probably won't even buy it knowing that truth about me.  Was kinda secretly hoping it would also be ported to the 360 but damnit.  Glad to see Tales getting some western love, but looks like I won't be enjoying it initially.

So if it's PS3 exclusive you won't buy it, but if it's on the XBOX 360 aswell, then you will buy it, despite owning both consoles.

Where is the logic in that? You are going to boycott a great game out of brand loyalty?

I personally don't want to see another Tales game anywhere near the XBOX 360. The majority of XBOX 360 owners have no interest in or respect for the Tales franchise or the JRPG genre as a whole, hence the low sales and review scores. That's what irritated me when I was playing Tales of Vesperia, it was a great game but what the hell was it doing on the XBOX 360? It's for that reason we will probably never see the huge amounts of extra content in the JAP PS3 version of the game on either console, Namco will just lose faith in Western audiences.

why would it being multiplat not establish a base with PS3?? its not like PS3 owners cant play it cause its on another system

Good news, and I'll get it day 1

I wouldn't be so certain it's PS3 exclusive, though. I still expect the Wii version to come over, otherwise the platforms wouldn't be 'coming soon!'

We shall see soon enough, no doubt

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I gave up on Namco making smart business decisions years ago

To be fair, Namco are actually thinking ahead with this decision. Obviously they could have released the Wii version alongside the PS3 version and saw more copies sold, but with the next main entry in the series exclusive to PS3, it makes sense to try and build up some sort of fanbase among PS3 owners.

yeah, because releasing on two platforms won't increase the Tales fanbase on the PS3.

He doesn't really boycott the PS3, but it's rather an immaturity and stubborness to not buy games on the PS3 or bother playing them. Trust me, it's tough. He did start Ratchet and Clank though. That was nice.

This is an uncharacteristically smart move by Namco. With the demise of PSN, PS3 owners will need lengthy single-player games. They saw an opening, and they pounced.

Very true. This also explains why releasing on Wii is a bad idea, since its online is gimped to begin with so single-player is red ocean territory on that particular console.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Namco's first priority is to circulate the PS3 version in the West. They haven't been happy with sales for quite some time, so it makes sense for them to narrow their focus and stick with the console that is guaranteed at least two successive Tales games. Releasing a Wii version that's missing 10 hours of content alongside the PS3 version that will be bought by PS3 owners and multi-console owners alike probably doesn't seem very lucrative.

Except that you fail to see that the PS3 iso can easily fit into a dual layer DVD 9. So that's just another example of Scamco's great business practices.

And how doesn't it seem attractive? If you are selling to two consoles then you reach 60 million potential buyers instead of the PS3s 19 million customer base. Plus most people don't care if a game is multiplatform or not, anyone that is talked out of a game because it isn't exclusive is an idiot

I think that putting Tales of Graces on the Wii in the West is a pretty good idea, I think there is a market for it, the Wii is lacking hardcore JRPG's.

The problem is, the extra content hasn't been ported to the Wii yet, and if it hasn't released on the Wii in Japan then it wont release on the Wii in the West.

I doubt Namco would release two very different versions of the games simultaneously either.
