This thread is bumming me out more than I thought it would....

I'm glad a few people went to cool indie shops, but it's sad so many seem to be dead or dying. Sigh...I guess game stores are just going the way of the record store.

LISTEN TO THE FIRST WORLD PODCAST REAL GAMERS, REAL AWESOME

If there were an indie store close by, I would try to support it.  I would be buying games I "have to have" on release date and older used games that are out of print.  But that's me.

I shop at A&C games, and Gameshack (Toronto), both are something that you might consider indie stores, but I think one is simply a retro store, and the other is a gaming store. They both get strong business.

i would buy in those stores but i get them cheaper and new in the uk than i would have to pay in germany for a used one. so sick how the prices in uk are so much lower than in the most other european countries (don't know about the prices in some poor eastern europe countries)

Oh yeah. Mostly for old games. I compare them with EBay, and oftentimes it makes sense to buy them from the store. I've bought stacks of SNES games from this place almost downtown.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
