Forums - Gaming - Resident Evil 6 Will See A Complete Renovation On Every Level

We’ve been hearing a lot lately about Resident Evil: Operaiton Raccoon City and other already announced titles in Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise. But what about Resident Evil 6? Well, Capcom’s own Masachika Kawata has issued a statement regarding the inevitable sequel in an interview with MarcaPlayer. The statement has been posted in its original Spanish form on Resident Evil Center and later translated into French by the folks at Ultimate Resident Evil. You can read, if you can comprehend the language, the French and Spanish versions of Kawata’s statement below, followed by our English translation.

“la saga experimentará una renovación total con la siguiente entrega, a todos los niveles. Pero no tenemos que olvidar que gracias a los últimos títulos de la misma hemos conocido un universo gigante de posibilidades para Resident Evil. No puedo decir si trabajaremos sobre un survival horror o un shooter, pero sí que será algo totalmente nuevo”

“La série va subir une rénovation complète pour le prochain épisode, à tous les niveaux. [...] Ce sera quelque chose de complètement nouveau. “

The series will see a complete renovation with the next entry on every level. But we can’t forget about all the previous entries that have led to the creation of many possibilities for the franchise. I can’t say if we’re going to make it (Resident Evil 6) survival horror or a shooter, but I can say that it’ll be totally different.”

i can only hope that im into this "complete renovation" i dont care much if it goes to all shooter as long as it fits my gaming tastes, i think a change to modern environments would do alot to the series

Maybe they will bring something new we never have seen before;.....Like running and shooting at the same time =p.

Would be nice if they gave it the Dead Space makeover.

DS was an infinitely better survival horror game and series.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I would agree that DS is better, but I don't think most fans would agree with you. Most people complain about RE 5 as not being a true survival horrer and I agree. I think most people always say it should change by going retro to the earlier games. I most likely would just hope the make it single player because anytime you play a survival horrer coop as I did it does not even come close to being scary.

I think you could easily make a multiplayer game scary. It would just take a lot of work, and change the concept of the game. If you made the horror more involving, I think it would be scarier (e.g. a persistent evil mansion with doors that don't make you safe, and a partner that must watch your back at all times).

By 'Dead Space makeover', I am saying that horror needs to be at the forefront, not quasi-action gameplay. Retro is fine too, but I think that wouldn't garner a lot of sales, either.

Survival Horror would be a nice genre for Resident Evil to try with again.

make it like RE 4 and I'm sold

I started making videos for youtube; check them out.

Contra (No Deaths): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_OdnbGgupM

Super C (No Deaths): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHoJrHWATgU

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (Mike Tyson TKO): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4L7oDV79aw

Systems owned: Atari 2600, NES(3), Top loader NES, Yobo NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Sega Gamegear, Sega Nomad, Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Playstation 2, Wii, PS3 (slim 120 GB), Wii U

You should congratulate me. I destroyed the vile red falcon and saved the universe. I consider myself a hero.

Make it a general shooter and I'll have absolutely no reason nor desire to play it. Make it a survival horror and i'll turn up an eyebrow in interest to check it out. This series has really lost me as a fan in recent years, however.

Hmmm. Yeah if there was more suprises and the enemis sneaked up on both players if there wasn't constant vigilance than it would be pretty scary. Team work would be demanded to even win and that would make it hard and more tense. Interesting I hope someone could be succesful at making horrer the main theme for a multi[;ayer experience.

Yeah I think horrer is at DS forefront which makes it great. It still does not sell well though unfortunantly compared to RE. I have wondered if it is too scary for most people. RE seemed to be trying to broaden the audience last time by making it less scary. It seems they failed.

Just because DS didn't sell as well as RE5 doesn't mean that the ideas in DS are, or would lead to poor sales. Look at the Fallout series. Bethesda changed FO3 heavily from the strategy format of earlier fallouts, and did it with fantastic success.
