I really don't want to get into this debate but I will clarify on Redsteel 2. That game was Heavily advertisded in the US and I mean heavily. Itm ight a case of locations tho but here in the North West they went all out for the game

i don't want to debate either, but i never saw 1 commercial, cut out, bulleton board, ect for the game.

hell i don't even know when i came out, and wouldn't have even really known if not for people talking about it on here as bombing.  i have been to best buy a few times recently and scanned wii games to see if anythign catches my eye and i don't even recall seeing that game.

it was tho, I think I commented on it back then as well. There were many TV commercials for the game. But like I said it changes from location to location. Mine is North West of USA

maybe its the channels you watch.  i did notice if i ever was on comedy central i would see a crap load of commercials for like say mad world.  but i dont' watch comedy central of g4, or mtv or those other teen centralized stations.

edit: could also be tivo's fault.  i mean usually i fast forward in commercials of shows i watch.  only if somethign catches my eye like a new movie commercial or an intruiging video game commercial ect to i watch them.  and it must have either not been advertised much here or else didn't catch my eye

For example:

The Last Story

Xenoblade (Could become pretty popular once released worldwide but Japanese sales were disappointing)

Red Steel 2

On the other hand, they are plenty of bad games that did awesome on the Wii lol

None of those REALLY count as AAA IMO though...

What's the difference between Epic Mickey and these?

Epic Mickey had 400 people working on them, heavily advertised and hyped, had prolific people working behind them, in development for many years and was a landmark game, highly successful both commercially and financially.

None of these games were. Most were niche or ports, and sold accordingly.

You are very wrong.

Okay I guess No More Heroes, Little King's Story and Zack & Wiki don't actually meet the criteria for highly advertised but all the others were.

I suppose we'll have to leave it at that really. Changed the list to what I reckon are AAA BTW

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Do you really want a list?

If you could.

For example:

No More Heroes 1 and 2

The Last Story

Xenoblade (Could become pretty popular once released worldwide but Japanese sales were disappointing)

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (The Wii version was made independently from the other versions and was highly advertised)

Madworld (Managed to sell well at a 9,99$ price point but it certainly didn't bring them much money as they most likely overshipped a lot)

Little King's Story

Zack & Wiki

Dead Space Extraction

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Red Steel 2

On the other hand, they are plenty of bad games that did awesome on the Wii lol

conduit 2 (It has been out for 2 weeks.  That said, I've yet to see an advert for it here in the UK)

shaun white 2  (Big development budget?  Despite coming out within a year of the original?)

de blob 2 (You are joking, surely?  No AAA advertising and has bombed on the HDs too.  I doubt its development budget was huge either)

deadly creatures (Not AAA advertising)

dead rising (Again, another joke, surely?  Tell me that the Wii port of this doesn't have a Metacritic above 70!  I can certainly vouch for having never seen a TV advert for it)

tiger woods 11 and 12  (Sports updates do seem to struggle a bit more on the Wii.  Perhaps there are relatively few Wii owners interested in the incremental changes that come with such games.  PES 2008 did well, for example, but subsequent versions - which admittedly lacked 2008's Wii-specific adverts - didn't.  Still, I'll give you TW11 - 12 looks likely too)

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars (This didn't get AAA advertising)

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II  (How close is it to 1m?)

Medal of Honor Heroes 2  (Was this a simultaneous multi-plat release?  If so, OK - if it was just on Wii, I didn't see any adverts for it)

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams (No AAA advertising)

Overlord: Dark Legend (No AAA advertising.  Has this got over 70 on MC?)

SSX Blur (Was this a simultaneous multi-plat release?  If so, OK - if it was just on Wii, I didn't see any adverts for it)

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (Good one.  It's the best-selling version so far and will get there)

Dragon Quest Monsters: Battle Road Victory (Can't think of any DQ spin-offs on HD that have reached 1m, but I may be wrong)

Bleach: Shattered Blade (No AAA advertising or development budget)

Battalion Wars 2 (Not even third party - Nintendo own the IP)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up (No AAA advertising.  MC 70plus?  Really?)

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 (I'll take your word for it that this hits all the criteria)

Sin and Punishment: Star Successor  (Nintendo IP and not AAA advertising)

Tales of Graces (Not AAA advertising)

Alone In The Dark (OK)

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands  (See previous post)

Tenchu: Shadow Assassins (Not AAA advertising)

.... having vgchartz availible makes this easy. xD

See bolded amendments.

How the hell is that a 3rd party game?

Nintendo published it, owns the rights to it and owns a majority share in the developer.  Next you'll be telling me that Wii sports was a 3rd party success story for the Wii.

I will have to guess that the difference is that Epic Mickey sold a lot more than those titles. Therefore it is the only title what can be considered a AAA-title by many wii fans.

It may have already been said, but Epic Mickey was a game that:

1) Had a big development budget

2) Was well advertised

3) Was pretty well received

4) Was of a genre that has seen success on the HD consoles.

The other suggestions did not meet all 4 of these criteria, which I suspect is why Conegamer isn't counting them as AAA titles.

I'm only givin you LKS. The others are either way too short, or not out in the West yet, hence there are still not close to their sales potential.

Maayybe DSE, haven't played that one yet.

Lego and AAA ?

Something does not compute.

You're using this term very loosely. I mean by your definition the HD consoles have around 200 AAA titles each.

I rarely watch comedy central and don't want MTV and such at all. I usually follow FOX, CBS, NBC (they have the shows I watch or the games I follow)

You're probably right - I was just trying to avoid being so narrow that nothing would qualify.  However, the Lego games do sell in very large numbers and are, i think, pretty big budget affairs.  They don't really appeal to me (I played the very first one and saw no reason to try another), but they clearly appeal to quite a few.

Personally, I see a AAA title as a game you would consider buying a new system system in order to play it.  That's very hard to quantify, however.  Even so, of the third party games I listed at the top, a few probably do qualify (e.g. MH3).

If you think the Lego games aren't AAA, you should see some of the games suggested by others!
