Scrap what the NGP as it is and make a handheld like the GBA, or DS, or whatever is not like the 3DS.

Above: still the best game of the year.
have a bigger and better launch.
i'm not on the 3ds doom train until after the holiday season.
Low price (not gonna happen)
Good battery life (not gonna happen)
Good multi-media functions (probably going to happen)
Make it easy to take on the go (it looks kinda bulky)
If I were Sony, I'd just copy everything the 3DS does and make a Swiss Army Knife come out of the side of it ("It has 3D, touch screen, AND a cork screw!") and call it a day. Sony tries too hard.
All it needs is games at launch. Seriously I would buy a 3DS (despite not being able to see the 3D) if it had the games. If the NGP launches with Uncharted or atleast a good number of good games then I'll be buying it.
Theres nothing it cando that would allow it to beat the 3ds in amost units sold battle in my opinion. The 3ds is just more universally appealing than a sony handheld they always seem so core. Like i can see my mom buying a 3ds but not a ngp not to say that it wont sell alot because it will. But ill agree with d21lewis a swiss army knife would help.
Simply make sure that whatever games are at launch, they offer more to the consumer than what the 3DS will have out by then.... of course after price is considered.
Games will likely be close in price, so really its just what games are offered and what the price difference is between the models.
