Forums - Nintendo - What Project Café means for a core Nintendo fan

I am the only person who doesn't really give a shit about graphics or resolution as long as they are above Dreamcast level?

I'm more excited about the games the cafe will have, rather than how those games look

The real problem is that lack of power means lack of games. How many third parties refused to port their games over Wii because of its power? Actually if it's less powerful than PS4 but still in line with the generation it will have many more games, and adding Nintendo franchises and something cool like motion controls should have been (the revolution stopped at half the way IMHO) Wii 2 should live longer than Wii.

The problem is: how many people there are going to buy a 350-400$ console? Surely less than bought a Wii, this gen we won't have a sub-200$ console for a while...

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

I can understand your excitement.

When I bought my PS3, I wasn't excited about HD at all, I didn't think the difference would be that big, so I kept playing in my SDTV. But short after that I bought an HDTV and I was like OMFG, the difference is huge! So knowing that some of the most popular franchises will be in HD is something to be excited about.

This is only from the graphics perspective though, and that alone is not going to carry the console, though I'm sure Nintendo understands that.

That's because you are a blind fanboy.

Seriously, think about it. Someone just said "HD" and you went gaga over a mockup picture, because it must be awesome, if it is in HD. There's a circle shadow, for god's sake.

Not a total blind Zelda fanboy. I didn't care much for Choo Cho Zelda.

That game wasn't in HD, so this helps my argument more than your defense.

Nice to see some people will try anything to start a fight on a forum rather than accept people are excited about the prospect of one of the greatest franchises in video game history getting a HD upgrade. Real mature RolStoppable. Totally agree that Nintendo does need to invest heavily in new franchises if it is to compete at the top level next generation though.

F-Zero HD 3D :D

"Classic franchises ... IN HIGH-DEFINITION!

Okay, before you respond with a “THAT’S IT?!?!?!”, just hear me out."

But the rest of it really is just "imagine the following Nintendo games...IN HIGH-DEFINITION!"

High definition is the end all, be all. Trust me, I've personally seen a 360 in action and wow, are HD graphics amazing.

I will admit, using the Dolphin emulator did make Ninjabread Man a much better game!

Those fan made pictures for Metroid or Zelda don't look that interesting, but I've always liked the style of that watercolour Mario. Nevertheless it'd be interesting to see what Nintendo can do with current/next-gen hardware when they where able to create something like Galaxy in a last-gen console.

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

I just can't wait for an achievements system. Then my playing Nintendo games will actually mean something.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Eh, considering how much Wii games are shunned for "it not HD!!!", I hope that all these who were supposedly disappointed by the Wii, but used to like Nintendo, have the same opinion as you.

Let's face it, home console Nintendo is never going to be a third-party power house in the way the Xbox and Playstation are. There are way too many guys in their teens and twenties who associate the Nintendo brand with kiddie no matter what. I have brought up No More Heroes, Madworld and other M-rated Wii games in conversations with PS3/Xbox 360 fanboys in RL and they just brush it off. This crowd for the most part is too ignorant to ever embrace Nintendo no matter how many GTAs, Call of Dutys, etc. they port over. The Call of Duty/GTA gamers that would actually be caught dead owning a Nintendo system are in the minority.

Nintendo would have the best chance trying to win over third-party Japanese development (like the SNES did). But if the PS4 and NextBox are going to be significantly more powerful than Project Cafe (If they are planning for a 2014 release, that will be certain), the Project Cafe is going to be left behind by them again. Their support of the DS is the exception to the rule but the handheld gaming market is a different beast. "Home console-style" games (complete with uber-graphics and all) don't lend themselves well to handheld gaming. The more simplistic, retro design of DS games is suited for handheld gaming.
