If Wii is dying, so is Xbox 360. It has sold significantly less units than Wii, and even now Wii still keeps pace with it.

At least we can all agree that Sony is back to ass kicking buisness

"You're assuming/hoping that this whole PSN fiasco is going to have some huge detrimental effect on PS3 sales"

Bull. You're claiming it's doing better than ever, so projecting your bias on me.

@Mummelmann, yeah, I admit that was a bad thread title. Still doesn't excuse trying to manipulate sales during a software slump into a definite future for the system.

It is doing better than ever.

        2006   2007   2008   2009   2010

Wii   2.93   16.39   24.36 21.44  18.07

PS3   1.25   7.70    9.92   13.02  14.45

Do I need to draw a curve that shows where the Wii peaks in 2008 and then declines in 2009 through 2010 and then misses its hardware projection for Q1 2011?

Or draw a curve that shows the PS3 continue a rising curve through 2010 or would that be "projecting bias" on you?

The Wii will be lucky to match sales with the PS3 in 2011. Even with the typical holiday boost that has traditionally meant better sales for Nintendo than MS or SCE, I'm betting that this year it won't.

It was your line that my bring up the PR mess was somehow wishful thinking for it to fail, thus projecting a bias on me.

And again, I did NOT define "dying" that way in the OP, thus showing you are just trying to argue your definition, not what the thread is actually about.

Wait... So this thread is only about how you define "dying"?

Okay

Well I admit I should have written "Nintendo is not just dropping the Wii" as the thread title.

But the title was based on the apparent context being used to claim the Wii was dying, by that they insisted Nintendo was dropping all Wii support, and here it's clear many would use any definition they want, as they've been doing since the Wii launched.

what a silly thing to say...

Here are current trends (11 weeks or so of sales) compared to same period last year:  (HINT... only one console is growing)

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 07th Feb 2010 to 24th Apr 2010:
Console Wii PS3 X360
Total
2,904,888
2,519,344
1,681,308
VGChartz Hardware data for the period 06th Feb 2011 to 23rd Apr 2011:
Console Wii PS3 X360
Total
1,686,497
2,199,944
1,880,029

And you point is?... wii is lower than last year, so the PS3 is... So base on that wii & ps3 are both dying, and the only not "dying" console is selling less than a dying console?, I am confused now...

OP, The wii is been lowering its sales since 2008 (it was dead on arrival and it has dying since day1, if I remember correctly) the wii is going to continue selling well, the 360/ps3 may sell 3 or more millions more than the wii this year, but the wii will remain still ahead by more than 30 millions, and even with café around the corner just dance3, zumba2, michael jackson 2 and wiimotionplay, zelda, DQX and some others, will keep the wii selling millions for a few more years... The wii is dying yes, nintendo is reducing their efforts on the system, yes, they have to focus on the 3ds and Café, but even with that the wii will end 1st this gen, sales and game wise (IMO for this one)...

Just my point was they need to keep it alive longer.

I agree with your point then,  and so I know  nintendo also do...

So it's just a matter of seeing what's a E3. Since the next system is a while away, I don't think they would show more than tech demos, but who knows. They might have some third party ports ready to show.
