Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft 3rd Qtr 2011 (fiscal) financial results.

Annnnyway.

Kinect - 2.4 Q1, 400k in March. Sold well for a system which is living off SW from Q4 and released NOTHING in Q1, shame on you Microsoft shame on you. Kinect shipments won't be pretty for Q2, I expect anything from 1 mill to 1.5 million, expect a lot of 'Kinect is doooomed' shortsighted BS for a few months, then Kinect will do gangbusters at xmas when it gets a shedload of SW again. I still maintain, with another 8 mill xmas give or take a mill, 20mill by years end is achieveable.

360 - 2.7 Q1, yeah, alright, best Q1 figure they've had, and better than any Q2 figure as well, I expect 1.7 - 2 mill next Q

EED Profits - $235M Q1, $1.292B FY2011 profits with a Q to go. This is better than Sony has ever done in their gaming division, so this can't be sniffed at, incredible. Gone are the days of mass losses for Microsoft! Yay!

Overall, healthy Q, don't expect the same for Q2 though ....

Am i seeing it wrongly.?

VGC says 2 Apr 2011 XBOX sold to consumer 52.944 M

MS says shipped to retailers 53.5 M

???

so only .55M on shelf??

That's probably pretty close. This time of year the retailers have no need  to stockpile consoles.

Three months ended March 31, 2011 compared with three months ended March 31, 2010

EDD revenue increased primarily reflecting higher Xbox 360 platform revenue. Xbox 360 platform revenue grew $712 million or 69%, led by sales of Kinect sensors, increased volumes of Xbox 360 consoles, and higher Xbox LIVE revenues. We shipped 2.7 million Xbox 360 consoles and 2.4 million Kinect sensors (including those sold with consoles) during the third quarter of fiscal year 2011, compared with 1.5 million Xbox 360 consoles during the third quarter of fiscal year 2010. On April 21, 2011, we entered into definitive agreements to formalize an alliance with Nokia to enhance our Windows Phone opportunities and strategies for smartphones, productivity tools, mobile marketplace, and services.

EDD operating income increased primarily reflecting revenue growth, offset in part by higher cost of revenue. Cost of revenue increased $640 million or 104% primarily reflecting higher volumes of Xbox 360 consoles and Kinect sensors sold, and increased royalty costs resulting from increased Xbox LIVE digital content sold.

Not a bad increase. $712m y/y .

what did VGC have xbox 360 sales at, at the end of march?

just curious because shipment total is 53.5 sold and as of right now VGC est. 53.4 million sold. i want to know how much they had in the channel at that time

it will be interesting what sony shipped that quarter, they needed 2.8 million to reach they prediction, right?

i believe my predictions were (dont hold me to it): 2.9 for PS3 and 2.5 for xbox. correction it was 2.8 and 2.4. So I was 11% off on the xbox numbers. not bad, i guess.

So 200,000 to low for xbox, lets see how close i am for ps3

does anybody know when SONY is going to announce their figures

I was trying to post a slide from the presentation.

Basically in Qtr4 they expect 25% YOY growth for the E&D division

They also say for FY 2012:

"Expect momentum to continue with more to be shared at E3 June"

Nice shipment. HD twins will ship 3,5-4 times the number of Wiis for Jan-March quarter.

Altrough 600k on the shelves seem a bit low.

Those are excellent results, doubling what the Wii did... Great!

On shelves and in warehouses/boats, while selling approx 150k per Week WW...

Probably needs adjusting down like 200-300k, much less than what the Wii needed/needs.

Approx 600k difference which is fine given the smaller distribution geography and the quiet time of year.

thanks.

and i had a couple edits, so if you have any more info, and can answer those questions to, that'd be great
