If you had stolen 77 million credit card numbers, what would you do next?

I don't get it, the media is constantly reporting that users may have had their credit card numbers stolen. Surely, if they had, we would be receiving reports of unsolicited transfers from banks? If I were going to go to all that effort to steal something, I would certainly use it.

inb4 someone says that only the credit card numbers would have been taken, and that the 3 digit security code, or the 4 digit (with severe constraints on the values) expiry date will keep credit cards safe even if the number itself is know. It won't. There are few enough combinations that one can brute force it.

with 77 million credit cards I'd buy Sony!!! :P

Neither. I'd sell the numbers for about $5 apiece. I think that's standard procedure for these things.

the credit card data was encrypted, so my next step would be decrypt the data.

I actually watched a program about this sort of thing a while ago. You would actually take your time and find one or more wholesale buyers for the numbers if you wanted to make money, rather than trying to use them yourself.

I would buy a bunch of ps3 and sell them on ebay

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I would sell the information.

That's what they've done.

Steal all the money I can and then buy out the entire Sony corporation.

Anonymous Wins. Fatality.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

I have two accounts on PSN and neither are connected to a credit card or any banking details whatsoever. These 'figures' that are floating around are rediculous.

I'd be willing to pay a lot of money to get my hands on a decryption key.

I'd also be expecting the FBI to show up at my front door.
