Well, as long as MP isn't such a noobfest, I can get behind this with great enthusiasm.

I'm looking forward to the continuation of the story most myself!

yeah that's a given, but after the storyt, what is...or at least was, the best part of Halo? The MP of course.

IF they're working on an HD remake as well, then this could be a 4 year dev time for Halo 4, meaning it'd release late 2014, year after the new xbox launch??

Whatever happens, I can't see them launching Halo 4 the same time as the new Xbox, and I can't see Xbox 720 launching any later than 2013 xmas, and I can't see a mainline Halo title having less than 3 years dev time. You do the math.

Why do you feel that way?

Personally I think it would make sense to release a potentially AAA game with a large and loyal userbase when a console launches to increase demand and demonstrate the value of a new console purchase.  Remember when Nintendo used to do that with a Mario game?  And it turned out quite well for MS when the Xbox launched with Combat Evolved as well.

Microsoft always announces a game late into development and close to launch. Gears 2 was announced February of the year it launched (or 9 months before launch), and Forza 3 was announced at E3 in June before launch (or 4 months before launch), but rumored in May.

I wouldn't be surprised if this Halo was launched this year, 343 Studios did promise a Halo every year, and I've read several articles about a Halo project in the works.

E3 will be awesome.

Note: I expect a Halo: Remake for fall this year, and Halo 4 will likely be a late 2012 360 title to take advantage of the 60 million plus user base the 360 will have by then.

But Halo Reach is a prequel. You can't just skip the 4 and name the next game with the Masterchief Halo 5.

Bring it on,  use the Reach engine and have a good campaign like Reach did and Im sold.  While I would prefer a game without Master Chief, as I really liked playing as Noble 6,  It really doesnt matter in the end.
