Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo- 'When at first they don't succeed...'

Except that the market still doesn't care about 3D.

The market wouldn't have cared about motion controls if it didn't have the software behind it.

The market will start to care even more about 3DS  when the games come.

Technology is only a tool. The end product is what really matters.

So, Nintendo's problem is that they are more than a decade early for their first tries.

Though I agree and that observation is full of win, If you were an anti Nintendo you could argue that they only deliver what they  promise 10 years later. lass half full, half empty kind of situation.

Somebody up there spit it right: Nintendo is good at refinement yet sometimes they also excel at innovation.

No, because games are not about how they look, but how they are played. How does 3D changes the gameplay of a game? It doesn't (unless you're talking about some stupid gimick game). 3D will never be more than a fad. And what software do you expect to sell "3D"? There is none, no one is buying the 3DS because of AR games. No one will buy Mario Kart or Super Mario Bros because "OMG it is 3D I must get it".

Above: still the best game of the year.

That's an epic picture and very good analysis.  I'll remember this

 Your dislike of 3D doesn't apply to everyone else.

I'm done with you. >=(

Edit: But know this: Come holiday season, I will shove so much crow down your throat that you'll turn  blue!

It's okay. It'll be cool and awesome when Sony does it.

Next gen hasn't start anyways until Sony said so. 3DS is really just cheating with time travel nearly a year early.

Considering Nintendo was one of the pioneers of networking and downloadable content with their NES and SNES modem add-ons in Japan, it's a wonder that they haven't come up with a compelling online network to compete with XBL and PSN or something similar, and how they've effectively remained a generation behind the competition since Sega first started their online services for the Saturn and Dreamcast.

This for me is the biggest question mark surrounding their "next-gen" system... supposedly being more powerful than the 360/PS3 is all well and good, but if it's not connected to an online network and community that is at least as robust and feature-rich as XBL/PSN, then what's the point?  It would be like owning a Ferrari... with no roads to drive it on!
