Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo- 'When at first they don't succeed...'

Nintendo always seems to be experimenting and testing out things not only in their research building(s) but also on the market, hence all the add-ons.

In the GC days, Nintendo, I feel, failed at online but it didn't really matter in that generation anyways.

In the Wii days, Nintendo didn't fail at online. Wii's online system was never meant to rival Sony's or MS'. It was bare bones and seemed more like experimenting to me. It is what is was mostly meant to be. It seemed to me like Nintendo was partly using Wii's online to test certain things.

I think with Cafe, we will see Nintendo take a big step towards social gaming. Cafe will be a social console and the controller screen will be a big part of that I bet.

It won't just be a PS-NetWork/XBox Live rip-off. It will be different. It will have that...*Eyes shine and he waves his right hand in a semi-circular motion in the air*...Nintendo Magic.

3DS to Cafe connectivity will also play a big part in this.

So, do you agree? Or do you think I need to get off the hype train and stop dreaming??

Like that pic it's clever and helps your point.

It seems there is a pattern of sorts lol

EDIT: Oh you made that? I thought it was from some website or something - made the thread 10x cooler :)

intriguing (though the last is only valid if the rumors are true)

Very clever observation you made there, one the of things Nintendo is truly great at is refinement.

Around the Network

yep.... very much true.

I agree.  I've been noticing Nintendo repeating ideas since the N64 days.  And frankly, I welcome it.  Many companies consider any failures a reason to ust forget about technology altogether.  But if Nintendo had thought that way, we'd probaby still never have an Analog Joystick, true 3D graphics or touch screens.  All things that were tested in the first 2 generations of gaming.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

So, Nintendo's problem is that they are more than a decade early for their first tries.

Except that the market still doesn't care about 3D.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Excellent observation!  The only thing I would debate is that they likely saw the Game and Watch as very successful for the time.

Actually, I've noticed this trend with all of Nintendo's systems--introduction with one then refinement with the next.

NES (Primitive 2D graphics) --> SNES (Refined 2D graphics)

N64 (Primitive 3D graphics) --> Gamecube (Refined 3D graphics)

Wii (Arguably primitive motion controls and online) --> Project Cafe (Refined motion control and online heavily rumored)

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
