Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo announces upcoming Wii/DS/3DS lineups

DQX will be a Wii game.

/thread

OT: As long as I get Skyward Sword, Xenoblade, The Last Story, Conduit 2, Pikmin 3 and Dragon Quest X for my Wii from here on out, I'll be perfectly satisfied. Who knows what's yet to be announced as well...

Pretty much the same lists as posted earlier this month. Don't show anything we didn't know about already.

I think a lot of it is just trying to ignite more arguments and hatred towards the lackluster lineup, and now people can give an excuse for it as well (N6).

Wow the Wii is really getting the shaft by developers. What's so f'n bad about the Wii? In 2011, the Wii still leads the software sales chart even though the Wii doesn't have dick for 2011 yet. Just Dance 2 is the top selling non-bundled Wii game this year and that has been out for more than half a year already. The game industry is full of technophile graphics whores who are out of touch with the mass market. Clearly the demand for Wii software is there when it's still ahead of PS3 and 360 software despite this stupid drought. There are a lot of older Wii games (2010 and earlier) I still need to catch up on. But it's sad to see they are pulling the plug on more new games pretty much (with a few exceptions).

The lineup is very dry at this moment, but I will be happy with a few good games for america, for example...

Legend of Zelda

Xenoblade

The Last Story

Fatal Frame 2 remake

and a surprise

That will be more than enough for me.

Man damn i know the 3ds 3rd and 4th quarter will probably be fantastic but the wii is gonna need some suprises at e3.

The mid-May to mid-July release schedule for 3DS in Japan is pretty impressive. I think that time frame will show the sales potential for the system, and whether or not the current slow sales are due to a lack of interesting titles or lack of interest in the system itself.

If Nintendo doesn't announce The Last Story or Xenoblade at E3. I'm boycotting their console next gen -.-

If N6 gets full backwards compatibility, why wouldn't you leave it on Wii? Maybe with late Game Boy or late Game Boy Color style "N6 enhanced" features, but primarily still on the platform with the (by then) 95-plus million userbase, instead of the one with the (maybe barely) 4 million userbase? You could still use it to sell N6's to people who never bought Wiis, but also sell it to the vast Wii base

It's a no-brainer. What would they gain from just putting it on the N6?

Yes you are right, I'm a fool lol... I did't even tought that you could easily have it released on both consoles. If N6 is capable of HD retro-compatibility. If not they could just release a normal version for Wii and and HD version for N6. I think that's the best option.

Make it a Wii exclusive it's not risky but it may be a little of a missed oppurtunity imo. I know the userbase is very important but it's not the only thing to look for, you have to consider also how "active" the Wii user base will be by mid-2012 (assuming that the game won't be ready before, I don't know), by that time some of these users may shift their attention to the N6 or to another HD console, plus you have to consider media visibility, even a good game like DQX imo may be a little overshadowed if a new console is coming out in the same period. Also having it released on N6 on launch would mean it will benefit from being launch title (no competition) and it would give Square the opportunity to create a jRPG community on N6 from the beginning, useful for their future releases. After all they don't have a new DQ  ready every 6 months.

Nothing less than sad.

At least my wallet is happy.

Pixel Art can be fun.

If the N6 has backwards compatibility, DQX would still work on both systems, the way some people are playing Pokemon B&W.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
