| Mr Khan said: If N6 gets full backwards compatibility, why wouldn't you leave it on Wii? Maybe with late Game Boy or late Game Boy Color style "N6 enhanced" features, but primarily still on the platform with the (by then) 95-plus million userbase, instead of the one with the (maybe barely) 4 million userbase? You could still use it to sell N6's to people who never bought Wiis, but also sell it to the vast Wii base It's a no-brainer. What would they gain from just putting it on the N6? |
Yes you are right, I'm a fool lol... I did't even tought that you could easily have it released on both consoles. If N6 is capable of HD retro-compatibility. If not they could just release a normal version for Wii and and HD version for N6. I think that's the best option.
Make it a Wii exclusive it's not risky but it may be a little of a missed oppurtunity imo. I know the userbase is very important but it's not the only thing to look for, you have to consider also how "active" the Wii user base will be by mid-2012 (assuming that the game won't be ready before, I don't know), by that time some of these users may shift their attention to the N6 or to another HD console, plus you have to consider media visibility, even a good game like DQX imo may be a little overshadowed if a new console is coming out in the same period. Also having it released on N6 on launch would mean it will benefit from being launch title (no competition) and it would give Square the opportunity to create a jRPG community on N6 from the beginning, useful for their future releases. After all they don't have a new DQ ready every 6 months.
