Forums - Gaming - Has the Wii failed as a gamer console?

In your opinion third party titles are crap in the Wii. But in my opinion Just Dance is more fun than every single HD title a I've already played on my PC. Everyone has its own opinion and most of Wii owners have completely values different from PS360 owners, so this is why is so hard to most of PS360 owners understand why the Wii is by far the best seller console of this gen.

For example, let’s talk about graphics. What are graphics for an ordinary PS360 owner? Resolution, number of polygons, shadows, etc. However for a Wii owner graphics are just beauty. This why an ordinary Wii owner thinks that Mario Galaxy or Kirby's Epic have better graphics than Uncharted or Alan Wake.

You gota be freakin kidding me you think kirby look better then alan wake or uncharted , you need to wake up >_>

as a console to me??? yes is has failed, but its not really on Ninty, oh sure they could have had a little more powerful hardware to get the little multiplat games to be somewhat respectable, however they tried that before and it didnt work so well, so i understand the route the wait. Its really mostly on 3rd parties. THere are just too many genres that are either very few or just dont exist on WIi. Talk about the superior control of motion on FPS all you like but it doesnt help if the game itself is bland and they are bland on Wii. Conduit??? There were better FPSs from last gen. Hell i think the GC FPSs are better. Timesplitters only crushes any FPS on WIi (COD included). fighting games, where are the 3d ones. all they have been getting is Guilty Gear ports and SNk compilations. outside of Tvs.C and Smash Bros(which online sucks) those are it. no sim racers. THe multiplat games they do get are usually inferior to that of the HD coutnerpart, by alot. No WRPGS at all, Wii doesnt get as much RPGS as the HDs, which is damn sad. Online everything is atrocious, even the VC has gone down( it is gettiing better), lack of motion support. I dont hate the system, but i dont love it either. Still have games to look forward too, but i would be lying if I said i can get by on just Wii, Ninty titles cannot sustain me alone

Thats the dumbest thing in this thread. Your talking about art styles maybe, but graphics are what it is, resoultion and number of polygons and so forth.

You generalize too much of ps360 owners. I know why the wii is the best selling console this gen.

A gamer console? I'm pretty sure it has games.

What kind of dumb question is this?

Yes.

For all the open-minded ones out there, not at all, its excellent.

That's one huge generalization you're making.

I would not say it if  I did not feel it was true Soriku. An outstanding majority of men in that age group consider the Wii a "baby" console.

I never had any desire to buy a PS3 or 360, so I'd say it was a success for me

But as with everything else, your mileage may vary

If the title of this thread was The Wii has failed as a gamer console, you would have gotten hundreds of more responses.

Unfortunately that is true. Way too many guys around that age that lack the open-mind to truly appreciate the Wii. This is why I keep saying that all these predictions that Nintendo can win over this demographic with the Wii HD/2 is crazy talk. To this demographic, Nintendo = kiddie. I don't think it's possible to change their mind. Most single guy gamers 12-34 are sheep that only like heavily advertised and hyped Xbox 360/PS3 games. They don't give a shit about the niche Xbox 360/PS3 stuff. If the gaming media or their friends aren't buzzing about it, they don't give a shit about it. So it does not surprise me at all that they won't give a shit about the Wii's niche core titles. And of course they aren't going to be caught dead trying stuff like Just Dance (it's not my favorite type of game but it's pretty fun. I have to admit). And given that this demographic turned their back on Nintendo for ages, they certaintly don't have much attachment to Nintendo's first party titles either.

These people are hype whores. When these guys talk to me about the latest and greatest big-budget hype-machine Xbox 360/PS3 game they are going to buy next or what they're playing now and they ask me what I'm playing and I tell em Persona 3 Portable, Deathsmiles, No More Heroes or whatever, they not only look at me like I'm from outer space but many of them have zero interest in learning more about these type of games. It's human nature for humans to want to engage in hobbies that are popular with their peer group. The more time they devote to expanding their horizons, the more they shift away from their peer group. Especially now that gaming is becoming more and more online multiplayer focused.
