Yakuza 4 sold more copies than any other PlayStation 3 game in Japan last year, according to new data.

Sales numbers totted up by Geimin and reported bySiliconera show that SEGA's crime epic sold 577,199 units.

However, that only puts it at 16th in the chart. The top 10 is dominated by DS, PSP and Wii titles, with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd taking the top spot with 3,849,907 sales, closely followed by Pokémon Black and White.

The top-selling first party Sony game on the list was Gran Turismo 5 at 17th with 563,378 copies sold.

The highest-placed Xbox 360 title was Monster Hunter Frontier at 86th (138,596 sales), followed by Halo Reach way down at 186th (56,104 sales).

Yakuza 4 launched in Europe last month and debuted at number 25 on the weekly UK all-formatchart.

LOL, Jarrod was right. Torne ended up being PS3's best-selling item in Japan last year.

Hmm, Hot Shots Golf 5 did another ~60k last year.  I'm pretty shocked Sony hasn't worked on getting another one out by now.

yakuza 4 is amazing. buy it guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is a must-have game for Playstation 3 gamer

You know i was actully interested in it, but i played the demo and it was just 4 fights. and tbh, i think theres better action games out there.

are the other elements of the game good enough to warrant buying it??

On the chart they are split into 2 SKUs. They come in at just over 2.6 million for Pokemon Black and over 2.36 million for Pokemon White. They are #2 and #3 on the chart, though if combined would easily be #1.
