Listening to music is something that I love to do - unfortunately, I normally have have to do it by myself. Why is this? I seem to have picked up some of the cheesiest music tastes from decades from before I was even born. 

My favourite music genres are funk, disco, soul, new jack swing and house music. The only concert that I've been to was by Jean Michel Jarre (which was great, but I was the youngest by about 20 years) As you can see, I'm a bit of an outcast in my age group when it comes to listening to music. 

Am I stuck with my tastes, or can I be converted to the current mainstream music?

Did you listen to current mainstream music? You're best where you are...

The only one who can convert you to anything is yourself... I don't remember liking anything that I didn't like the first time around...

Then don't try to right now. As your personality changes, so do your tastes. Check back in a year I say.

That's because it's trash. Listen to what you like, and don't give a fuck what's popular or not.

I suppose the tastes of the mainstream change so rapidly, that it's futile to even attempt to catch up.

Very inspiring, to say the least. Couldn't help but smile when I listened, despite having no idea what language it's being sung in. Sounds like it might come from one of the Scandinavian countries

Fuck that. Listen to whatever you want. The best way to discover new music is to just listen to a bunch of different artists and see what sticks. Don't be afraid to listen to something at least once. I never thought I would like punk rock yet now I listet to SFH.
