Not at all, as many have said! The library, by now, is damn huge and increasing, the prices for most games are low, and since Sony is yet to make serious profits from it, I doubt we'll see its successor soon. In fact, Sony's effort in putting out games for it is kinda scary ;)

Since getting an HD screen I can call my own not so long ago, I have been enjoying it more than ever. I recommend that you do as well ;)

No not at all. Ps4 won't be around to fall 2012 at the earliest. There still a lot of exclusives coming and its best games can be found super cheat. If anything I would recommend waiting a bit as a price cut will likely happen this year.

How could you be serious about that?

PS3 has an outstanding library already  and it would take you about 1000 hours to play any top 10 out there. Not only that: there are dozens of great titles announced to be released in the near future.

ive been thinking about pickin up one as well..was questioning if it was sorta to late or not. would be nice to own all the systems now hehe.not sure what game to buy yet..maybe killzone.

Uncharted and LittleBigPlanet games I can tell you are fantastic from personal experience. Uncharted 2 is my 2nd favorite game of all time, and LBP is just an incredibly fun, entertaining, humorous game to play, especially 2, 3, or 4-player co-op (local or online) with friends. Such a great game.

Other games I recommend are Metal Gear Solid 4 (favorite game of all time - never thought I liked the series until I played this game), inFAMOUS (3rd favorite game of all time), Killzone 3 (first fps multiplayer I've ever enjoyed). Resistance 1 & 2 are also great games, though the only thing I really liked about R2 was its online 8-player co-op. But the coop is so solid it made the game totally worth my $60. inFAMOUS 2, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, Twisted Metal, and maybe The Last Guardian are all set to release this year as well.

Definitely an amazing time to get a ps3 imho. Gotta do what you want though. It seems like you want one, so if that's the case then go for it.

the PS3 like the PS2 still has life beyond 10 yr's so its the perfect purchase.

Sony are aiming for a 10 year lifespan, and theres still louds of great exclusives and nonexclusives coming up, and with a lower price it's a better time than ever to get one. 

there is still gonna be like 3-4 years left in this console life

Console life doesn't end when the next iteration releases.

PS3 has much more than 3-4 years left.
