Forums - Sony - Ps2 still alive after 8 years!

which puts it at roughly 130 million (because the 120 million is shipped remember)
I believe tyhe PS2 may be quite undertracked here on VGC (currently under 114 million) but i suspect only by 2-3 million, so if it sells 5 million next year, plus a further 3 or 4 million it will still be under 130 million. (though i imagine Sony has shipped near 130 million already)

 Ye, that still freaks the shit out of me... Saw it when it was released... 1 copy was lying between PS2 games... Really, Really scarry stuff...

I'm guessing Fifa 2011 will be the last Fifa for the PS2.

I think people still buy games for it because obviously there are so many out that unless you were well off it was almost impossible to own them all but not that their $20 you get to experiment and buy some unknown game you think might be interesting but would've never bought because of budget constraints.

I wonder if the PS2 could reach 200 million consoles sold by the end of it's 10 year life

no 200 mil is to much but it will get close to 150 mil

Playstation 2 is too old for me to keep the same level of interest as the Wii, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3. I thought the original Playstation died at the year 2001, but it officially died around 2006, the same year the Playstation 3 was released. The Playstation 2 is just so old now. It's practically on par with the Dreamcast, power-wise. Sure, graphics do not matter to me, but the Dreamcast was out a long time ago, which gives you an idea of how old the Playstation 2 really is. I mean, the Gamecube, and Xbox are both officially dead, hardware-wise, so why should I pay any more interest to the Playstation 2? The only new games that will be released for it will be mostly sports games, and movie-games. Will there even be any more first party games released for it? It's not dead to me, it just joined the group of older consoles, like the Nintendo 64, and Sega Genesis, in that I will play them occasionally, mainly the nostalgic factor.

@alex

I dont get it, when its not about the wii Power(graphicle) matters so much to them..

PS2 graphics are on par with dreamcast.

But when its the wii its a whole different story.

Still have my Atari 2600 after 30 years... Naw, just joking, I've only owned one for a few years. I'm still a teenager for crying out loud. But I've owned my Super Nintendo since release date, I believe...
