Well, a "true gamer" will want to play every game available so the sequence I can think of is:

1. PC- Nearly every game in existence is playable either through emulation or actual PC exclusives and also has some very interesting hacks for Kinect.

2. Launch PS3- As it has b/c for PS2 games (which are difficult for PC emulation)

3. Wii- It's still the best party console around

Hmmmm. Well this is all relative to what you see as important to the industry, and what games were the best of it's day etc etc.

For me? The following has to be it.

1. Snes ( Final Fantasy 1-6, DKC 1-3, Super Star Wars trilogy, SSF2Turbo, Mario Kart, Mario World. The list goes on. )

2.  N64. ( 2 of the greatest games of all time. Mario 64 and Ocarina Of time. Also Perfect Dark, Mario Kart 64, Banjo Kazooie, Goldeneye 007, Blast Corps to name a few. Better top games than PS1 by a country mile. )

3. Xbox 360. ( IMO Kinect puts this here. Kinect is fantastic and completely revolutionary. It deserves this spot as a must for gaming fans. A slice of the future early. )

a true Gamer plays Games, but sadly some of the most awesome Games were released on neche to very niche conssoles.

The "True Gamer" thing is BS, but I will play along anyway.

3. This one is a toss up.  I want to say SNES, but it probably isn't necessary since I have the NES in the list already.  Maybe PS2 or Wii.
