Nintendo is in a really good spot right now. They are basically the king of the casual market, and they are the only ones that can release a console by next year. If they do make a next gen console, they'll be out much earlier than the next xbox and playstation (which probably won't be released until 2014 or later according to rumors), allowing them to take control of the hardcore market as well. There are some rumors that the Wii 2 is significantly more powerful than the ps3 and xbox 360. While that is just a rumor, I'm still very hopeful. Ninetendo should already know that neither Microsoft nor Sony is willing to shell out another console until a few more years. Nintendo is the only company that has actually gotten a big return on this generation of games. If they do start the next generation that much earlier than the others, they'll have a huge head start.

If Nintendo releases a version of the Wii whose primary difference is a hard drive and the ability to upscale to 1080p then yes, I, as a person who said that there would never be a WiiHD, would be wrong.

if it's true, it's probably a minor upgrade from the console on sale now.  A revision of the console and not a new piece of hardware.  I would love to upgrade my resolution on my games, such as smash bros.

Yes. I realize it's an emulator, but supposedly most Wii games put on it look superb and in glorious HD (on the PC) because of whatever it does. So can't whatever it does be done by Nintendo as well to make the Wii games look much better than "insignificant gains"?

I'll admit I could have worded it better. But he's right, I was talking about how every year around now we get talk of an 'imminent' release of a Wii HD/Wii 2. Granted it'll eventually be right, but it's just funny to see the same thing happen every year.

The bit about Move was just a little light hearted dig at the inevitable 'ZOMG they copied' that happens all the time on these forums (and as some have already pointed out they're planning on doing when Nintendo goes HD). Move is a Wii copy! Kinect is an EyeToy copy! That button looks like the button from the Coleco Telstar, copy! It's getting to the point whereby we'll have people saying that having something the same colour is a copy in the constant pursuit for revenge 'because he started it'.

Seing a Nintendo console release first would be a nice change.

It will have a huge window to build up a library against the HD sucessors.

It seems Nintendo is going to start next Gen from both front even with a huge lead. E3 is going to be huge.
