Must be nice. They could still go lower though can't they if they are making money. Where do you watch movies?

I usually pay 7 for regular and I think its like 10-15 for 3d. I dont really go to the movies though.

http://www.natoonline.org/statisticstickets.htm

Average ticket price in the us for 2009 was $7.50

Well, the price reflects the theater. It doesn't have 3d, and it's quite a mess(if something falls on the floor you are better off leaving it there...) And it was actually $2 till just recently. People were actually quite outraged that it went up to 3. They put the much nicer theater out of business a couple months ago( I guess people would rather pay $2 for a crappy theater than $5 for a nice one...)

I live in Carolina btw. So no 3rd world country here :-p

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

Yea checked your profile for living in the US. We have a theatre like that by us too. But they only play old releases. But not just ticket prices,l but entertainment in general. Its getting cheaper now though with DD. I think the same thing that is going on in music will happen to visual entertainment too. Costs will go down for consumers, we will get less huge/massive stars taking all the money and it will instead be spread around more stars that are less famous. To me that is a more preferable model.

believe it are not acting is'nt as easy as you make it out to be. There probably on set 12 to 16 hrs at a time. Plus they bring in big money for the studios. So I think they do deserve the big pay. Sport player's deserve the money to. Sure I wish I made millions of dollars, but it really is'nt that big of a deal to me.

Many jobs have people working 12-16 hrs at a time. That is not reason enough for the absurd amount that some make.

There are jobs anyone can do, and jobs that only a select few can.

The thing about actors is they bring in a lot of money through the box office, and subsequent DVD releases. It's only fair that they get a large check. It's either them or the studio...

or they could lower prices for everything so their fans can appreciate their work and have money in their pocket.

LOL, do you think they're running charities or something?

Actors don't really have the power to do that though.

You get the money that your job earns, and moviestars earn more. I didn't realize that about American Footbal players, only 3 1/2 years? That is just awful.

On average, the stars last a lot longer of course.  Well the ones that don't suffer horrible career ending injuries.

The way football is setup it's more damaging and brutal then any sport out there... even rugby.

Which is saying something when you consider the padding they wear.

Not to mention the quality of life decrease even if you don't get a bad injury, bad joints, sore legs.

Proffessional football I wouldn't play even for the money.

I know. Its just crazy how out of whack most of the entertainment industries pay is. But the music industry is in the process of fixing itself and I hope the internet and easy access to quality video/sound recording/editing equiptemnt will do the same to visual media (tv/movies). I dont really blame actors.

I wouldn't say the music industry is in the process of fixing itself so much as it is... MP3s forced the industry to fix itself.

MP3's came up and people wanted those, but the industry ignored them, thinking it was a piracy thing when it was really a "We want digital music and this is where we can get it " thing.

Steve Jobs came along to the record companies and said "I want to sell all your songs for 99 cents a piece."

to which they replied "Yeah sure whatever, don't see why anyones going to pay for something they could just pirate."

Then they found out the online music market was huge, hence back then people trying to get out of the 99 cent deal, problem was... that's what everybody expected now.

Can't charge 24.99 for a 13 track album anymore because it's only 13 dollars on Itunes.

Will the same thing happen to movies...?  Probably not.

Unlike music, what movie companies are selling is the EXPIERENCE of a movie first with movie theatres.  Even with the demand of digital copies, and things like netflix and pirated movies... you don't get the theatre expierence.

It would take people having movie theatre like technology in their own homes to the point of where the "going out" factor isn't important.

Which may be never, due to the social impact of "going out".

Dinner & a Movie is the classic date afterall.

I do agree. But when they can get so much entertainment from other sources they will be less likely to pay the high premiums for dvd's or tv shows on dvd. What i see happening more though is that studios will reign in stars and it wont be worth it to pay them so much money. It will be harder to recoupe money on dvd sales as streaming becomes more common. Music still has concerts and Movies will still have theatres, but it will be harder to make excess money after that. I am certainly not trying to spell doom for movie theatres perhaps they will become even more of an experience.

I agree. Given how much benefit to society models/actors/etc. bring, compared to how much they get paid, it's kind of ridiculous. Meanwhile professors, while not living bad, don't have even a small fraction of the pay of the ones above, yet they are the ones that hcontribute the most to society.

Kinda fucked up and it's a problem with society. You are willing to buy shit that gets advertised for you, or spend the money for the DVD, etc. which gives those companies revenue which always ends up in the worthless person's pocket. Meanwhile I hear people bitch about education almost non-stop. It is beyond disgraceful and it is one of the best indicators of how fucked up society is (or really, I can make a very strong point about the fallacies of capitalism).
