It can be a system seller for sure.

Wouldn't work, most people play the game for local multiplayer.

Came here to say just this.

And if I'm being honest, I hope they throw competitiveness out the window with the next game, and aim for more over-the-topness and randomness. Though I'm not sure if it would be worth listening to the uproar of a million angry tourneyfags (in lack of a less homophobic term) again.

What everyone needs to know about competitive SSB.

Can you please explain to me, why do you despie competitive smash so much?

I mean, it's not like it had any effect on you, and 99.9% of the pepole who played Smash.

Why any of you have an objection about pepole who like to be really good in a game, and potentially make some money (if not a living) out of it? Why do you think it is a good thing that Nintendo just destroyed quite a large community, just for the sake of it?

Now, just to make myself clear, I do think that pepole who are good at Smash and actually play seriously against their friends, and try to force their "rules" are assholes (I was like that before), but if some pepole enjoy play a game, in a certain way, why do you think they should not be allowed to, or that their enjoyment should be misallowed?

I'm really into competitive Starcraft 2. I've paid out >$100 this year for HD livestreams of tournaments. No way am I against esports.

It is the attitude of the community and the complaining about how SSBB ruined everything that I am against. No, it's not affecting me or stopping me enjoying it, but the article is funny and I hope Nintendo continue to not listen to these people when making future games, because it would stop being fun for casual SSB players such as myself if bug exploitation like wavedashing was required to be any good.

Blizzard managed to balance their game such that top level play is exciting and casual play is fun and accessible.

So, we pretty much share the same opinion :P

oGsMC is so OP.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Yeah.

<blatantly offtopic>

Slayers_MMA > All. He took down July, MC and MVP solidly. Code A is going to be amazing with Ryung, Min, MVP, MMA, Bomber and Boxer for a start.

MKP took out MC convincingly last week too. And Jinro did so a few months ago, He's not invincible by any means.

</OT>

i'd totally be up for it. It would also encourage a lot of people to buy 3ds' to play the game with their friends. However if it was going to impact on the possibility of a new console smash brothers then I would have to say i'd be against the whole idea. I came in to this thread with the idea that the game is a no brainer, but after reading some comments and having a think about it this is actually a very interesting topic.

If timed right, a 3DS release and a Wii 2 release, could help their respective consoles whilst keeping the experience fresh on each console.

Melee and Brawl were both in my top 3 for their respective consoles, so a 3DS SSB would be a dream come true for this guy.

I actually like the single player, especially on Brawl, so the competitve stuff doesn't make a difference to me at all.

As for 3D, if it does nothing but make the game look better, than so be it. I've never heard anyone argue that PS3 graphics don't really add anything to the gameplay, so let's call it tacked on...

3D would look cool and the game, if done as well as the last 3, would be the definition of Epic.

Hell yeah ! I would buy a 3DS for that game.

Smash fans (aka tourney fags)  are not even at a level where players make some decent money playing in tourneys like MVC3 players.

Instead they spend most there time trying to make brawl play exactly like melee instead of just learning or leaving the game.  Or you could just Melee all you want.  Didn't stop Third strike arcade palyers for a decade.

As for smash on 3DS, LOL no.  3 hour battery life for smash?  Talk about lowering your standards.

I thought they would make a Smash Bros and a Pikmin for the DS, but that never happened. I hope a Smash Bros 3DS comes out, it definatly has that pick up and play gameplay.
