For it being a release outside of the holiday period, I think the 3DS's sales are pretty amazing ...

I wouldn't have expected any less, it was the successor to what will be the most popular games console, and even though it was more expensive it was always going to sell great

I know comparisons will be drawn with the PS3 based on a more expensive successor to the most popular console ever, but the 3DS is still not too expensive and they made more than the PS3

Actually, what I find so impressive is that it has done so well without the big hitting Nintendo franchises which will certainly give it a big push sometime this year (probably)

I just saying that it has done very well all things considered ...

Breaking 500,000 units sold for a $150 system in November with a couple big first party games would be expected, but to do it in March, at $250, without any stand-out title is impressive.

But it will always be true that there will be a hardcore core (...) who will buy the console just because they are collectors and have to get thinks at launch. And I think many do see the 3D as quite a large innovation, even if opinions of the 3d have been split

PS3 is closing the weekly gap in US O.o

At least DS is showing AMAZING number in one territory.

Same for the 360 closing the weekly gap in EMEAA.

Really close between the 3 consoles WW without Japan. Even with, looks like it'll be less than a 30k difference from first to 3rd for home consoles.

Good to see Ghost Recon in the top 40 for 3DS and great sales for Street Fighter as well. We want third party games to sell, we don't want a Wii situation :S

Also this means that launch aligned, the 3DS sold a total of:

Japan: 374,164

 EMEAA: 346,021

US: 672,054

AUS: 31,271

TOTAL: 1.42 Million in week one

Do you have the week one of another console?

All I can find right now is that the Nintendo DS sold about 500k week one in the US market. It was released on November 24th for $149.99. So the 3DS beat the DS even though the original was released in the middle of the holiday season for $100 less. You'd expect it to beat it of course but it's still worthwhile noting the performance of each system in terms of the date and price.

Edit: Also Australia, "19,191 units were sold from Thursday 24 February to close of business Sunday 27 February."

Also, Australia:

DS - $199.95, sales of 19,191

3DS - $300 - 349.95 (depending where you bought it from) sales of 31,271

what the shit is going on with the formatting????

I was wondering why you changed the font.

Yeah.. the 3DS in U.S. was like 3x's greater then in EMEA. I was surprised at how many 3DS titles there are in the Top 30 on the list. That's insane. 3DS leads the world, which is no surprise. I don't see that changing anytime soon. Might stay like this until the end of the year when Gears of War 3 or Unchart 3 bundles get released.

Also...

Halo Reach? What? What's with the huge sales? Selling just as much as Black Ops on the PS3 and 360 combined?

Crazy deals going on over in the States?

That always happens every year it seems. Then a Gears 3, Halo or price drop occurs and the gap widens again. Then the holidays season begins and it widens even more. I think everyone forgot what happened at the end of last year. Can't wait until the E3.

Wait, in the thread of Media Create many are calling flop because 3DS as fallen under PSP, let's not speak too early, maybe PS3 in one week will outsell it and we all know what it means...failure.[/sarcasm]

Really, great opening, and let's remember that Nintendo's strategy is not to sell gazillions on D1 but to sell long term like DS did...another Wii would be a disappointment, if 3DS sells software for everyone the games will come out every week and it will sell even more.

Who believes GT5 sold only 4,264 this week? I don't... the next PD update will be interesting.

Like I've been telling you guys before the game was even released. It's not going to make it to 10 million. Definitely not going to outsell GT3 or GT4. It will need another bundle for it to have any chance of reaching those numbers.
