Forums - Sony Discussion - Anon takes down Sony website!

Forget the fact that ssj12 seems to revere anonymous, you should probably be more worried that he's a writer for the site.

In any case it probably won't be long before anonymous goes after someone in a heavy lobbying industry at which point there is a good chance it could be game over for privacy on the internet (some people refer to it as a right but I don't know if we should go that far).  Governments have already been looking for reasons to force ISP to allow them to do wiretaps on the internet similar to phone lines, I'm not sure giving them a reason to point to is a great idea.

I really dont revere anonymous as much as I generally fear and respect their power. They also are very useful for many causes I believe in. I just know for a fact that options are slowly dwindling and Anon stepping into this ball park changed the game. Its like playing high school football and having the NY Jets replace your entire team for the season.

Very few of you seem to realize I am also a libertarian who hated big government, and an environmentalist that wants to protect the world from ourselves. I believe in deregulation of the majority of the government as well as privatization of many government programs.  I am also a technology fanatic that is currently drooling over Intel's planned 10-core Xeon server processors.

You did not just compare this to the civil rights movement did you? Mother of God.

Back in the day I used to be one of those stoners hanging out 420 chans /i/ board. We were just hanging out and dicking around while messing with some people. Now its snowballed into some pathetic fantasy of freedom fighting. Geohot was just a guy who was looking for some e-cred and spread around his ps3 hack. Sony slapped him down. He isn't a martyr or anything else. Hes just a guy who called too much attention to himself.

And of course theres the simple fact that vastly different people associate themselves with anon, and the ones with any hacking skills are busy doing actual meaningful stuff with wikileaks and such. These are just a bunch of kids with babys first DDoS tools.

Movements do evolve past their beginnings, and I do know several hackers that I've worked personally with on my past anime websites. they all apart of anonymous, and they are by far the types of people that one should greatly fear in cyberspace.

You dont find it in the least bit strange how much you revere these people?  To the point it practically sounds like your worshipping them?  In some ways I see Anons point of view on this stuff but I think their methods need some work for sure, they are hurting the people they are claiming to help if they bring PSN down.

Its because I have worked with members before and stood next to them during the protests of Scientology. While I might not agree with one collective's goals for one target or focus, some I can. This I can. Traditionally wars limit civilian casualties, but since at least in terms of DDoS attacks are temporary, its easily forgiven since ones a DDoS attack stops the servers just need a reboot at the worst.

where can i get one of those masks from?

I still remember that Scientology case, these guys can give Sony some headaches if their protests begin.

Ehh... I liked Anon better when they were messing with Scientology, a company (yes, in my eyes it's a company and not a religion) which deliberately and methodically exploits people going as far as ruining their lives or killing them.

Attacking Sony, for trying defend itself against piracy using the legal methods (let a freaking judge decide for god's sake), and making me "colateral damage" with the "sometimes drastic measures have to be taken" and "the majority doesn't know whats good for them" antics just disgusts me -> massive loss of credits.

The legal methods are rarely the correct ones these days...it's that easy to buy the judge nowadays.

then why don't I see you do something about that? I can tell you - because this way you can say " legal system doesn't work, so we can do what we want and what we think is right"

you just don't trust anyone elses decisions no matter how much they did to be in the position to decide

edit: I see you are from Italy.. you have some of the most gutsy judges in the world, standing tall and ruling against the Camorra/ Cosa Nostra , removing Berlusconi's immunity and stuff. You are in no position to whine.

Good for them, they took down some websites. What about the PSN? Which I presume do not run on the same servers as a couple of websites.

Anonymous had a nice idea with the Wikileaks thing, supporting Freedom of Speech, this just seems more like supporting hacking and piracy.

Hmm, pie.

Its not about piracy. I believe you are misinformed. Its because Sony is sueing Geohotz and making it seem like Geohotz is responsible for piracy when he had nothing to do with it. I suggest you do research on the situation.

Sony is quite sneaky. Their lawyers intentionally worded their docs to make GeoHot fled-to-South-America when he was just on vacation.
