I reckon that allot of people who couldnt get hold of Wiis for christmas may still try for new year as a surprise for family, friends etc So for hat reason I reckon that it will reach 19 mill by the years end.
I think 19 mil is possible, but it will fall short of the 20 mil john Lucas predicted. Even so, his pie in the sky prediction will still be pretty damn close, and he deserves some props for that. Unless it somehow actually crosses 20 million, then we will never hear the end of it. :)

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

20 million would've been a nice round number, but doesn't mean a lot in the end. Can't wait to see what the numbers will look like next holiday if Nintendo finally manages to increase production above demand.
The Wii will sell 1,4 million WW this week :)
Predictions for December 31st 2008:
Wii 38,000,000
DS 84,500,000
PS3 17,000,000
PSP 41,000,000
X360 23,000,000
europe is 440k, usa was 700k half way through the week, japan is over 180k. so thats already 1.3mil + the rest of USA's week
I think when the year started 20 million seemed like such an absurd number. Now 20 million is within reach and at latest will hit on the first week of January. So at most John Lucas will have been off by one week. I seriously think 19.5+ is a real possibility. Canada's numbers will push NA over 1 million this week.
Im still predicting Wii sales wont top 18.9 million by Jan 1st.

I will say 19.5 by January first. It will be around 19.3-19.4 for the week ending the 29th. There is no way to track the last 2 days of the month which would put it at about 19.5.
