No they can't. The new PS3s can't even play older games. All the Wii can do is play GC games, and the 360 only goes back tot he Xbox. Considering that I'm playing X-COM, which is back from '94, I would say that the consoles half-ass that as well.

The PS3 can play games all the way up from 1994, and some can even play games from PS2, Wii can play games all the way from the 80s and Xbox 360 is compatible with its predcessor games

I really hope you aren't implying I have to buy those games from the online stores, considering I already own them.

On Wii yes, on PS360 no

I was not aware they came with cartridge slots. Where do I plug in my Goldeneye cartrage? No? What about OoT? Still no? Enlighten me on these amazing special edition HD consoles you have so I can go buy some myself.

Do you know how many old games I can play on my single PC? ALso how old they can be? All of them, and just yesterday I was playing Keen 1, and a few weeks ago I beat PoP again. That last one was from '88.

Can you play Windows games on Mac? Yup, just like you can play SNES games on PS3....

I was assuimg we were talking about same brand games from older gens, dont mix Nintendo with PlayStation

You can however play all those games on PC using emulators. I sometimes play old Amstrad CPC games and their are plenty of SNES, Mega Drive, PS1, N64 emulators out there. Brands are pretty meaningless with a PC.

You can also play SNES emulators on PS3. Are you including emulators now? Your point?

If you want to lose online play and face a lawsuit.

No, there is a way to use hombrew and stay online. Im assuimg lawsuit is a joke on geohot situation

You can also play SNES emulators on PS3. Are you including emulators now? Your point?

Not out of the box. And why not include emulators?

Well, you do need to put a flash drive in PS3's USB slot... and emulators are not really part of the platform itself, its just a hack.

I'm just making the point that everything is accessible (in terms of number of games) on PC.

Get a PC and everything is downloadable. On PS3 you have to get the hack and use it in ways that weren't intended and potentially can ruin your warranty.

Yes, everything is accessible on PC...with hacks.

And you just need to downgrade PS3 belov 3.41 and than just stick PS3 jaikbreak flash drive in USB port and thats it -  thats hardly any hacking

Er, you have it backwords... possibly intentionally?

You don't have to hack anything to get things on the PC.

While you know, what you described very much is hacking the PS3.

But then you wouldn't be able to play any new games as they require the latest firmware. It's a lot more hassle on PS3, can ruin your warranty and is a constant battle against the crap Sony does.

On PC it's just a simple download and you're away with no hassle from manufacturer.

"Other industries, such as gaming software, have fared well too. Entertainment software sales have gone through the roof in recent years and surpassed that of movie ticket sales and CD sales, the report explains. The researchers further note that games such as World of Warcraft are immune to piracy because of their business model, and that game consumers are often very loyal to game developers, and on average more hesitant to pirate."

I am fairly sure that "owned" applies best here. Also, piracy affects all mediums the same way.

Once again, it just babbles on about what isn't suffering from piracy and industries helped by piracy. But no mention of the publishers and developers that actually produce the software and how they are affected.

Late ports, less support from major developers, and frequent digital download sales is all a reflection of how piracy is hurting PC game sales.

Aren't publishers and developers a part of the industry? If the industry is helped by piracy than surely it's overall a good thing for the publishers and developers.

Also, the support hasn't decreased from developers or publishers. Games are still being released on PC, it's just a lot of once PC "exclusive" studios are also releasing on consoles and I'm not sure why you think frequent digital download sales are a bad thing. If anything, a digital download is more profitable for publishers as they control the pricing and get larger profit margins as they cut out the retailer. It's also helped smaller/medium sized studios find significant niche markets in which they can thrive.

So you're telling me emulators come with the PC together once you buy one?

Actually there is a programm that updates your pirated PS3 games on your HDD but you have to reset all the process than. As for warranty, PS3s are very good build up machines

Er... downloading isn't hacking?

You don't need to bypass any security features to use an emulator on PC.
