The Wii is actually holding pretty strong in the Americas.  The 360 and PS3 have been getting one strong release after another almost every week.  The Wii hasn't really had any strong releases yet in 2011.

Wii's  problem is called Japan. The Hero to save it is called Dragon Quest X.

Strange WoW changes this Week...

Note 1: PS3 is the best yoy in software too with 22% of 2010.

PS3 passes 49 million.

Is software really down 81% year on year for the first 3 months, i mean i can understand hardware being down, but surely software shouldnt be down as there are more people with consoles buying software than there were this time last year.

Wow, Wii's approaching 360 (or rather, the other way round) again? Is the Kinect effect weakening? Or is it just a temporary hold on Star Wars? Wii doesn't exactly get decent new releases every day so I suppose every little release could have a somewhat magnified effect.

It's comparing the full year 2010 to the first three months in 2011.  Notice that hardware is also down by similar amounts.

Yeah the graph isn't so explicit on what the numbers mean.  The chart isn't YoY sales for the week, it's YoY changes YTD.  So, through this week (3 months worth) in 2011 vs. all of 2010.   So, you should expect lots of negative percentages there until Autumn.

Hm, I didn't expect 360 and Wii to be so close.

Killzone 3 continues to impress me here! It's staying comfortably above KZ2 in the region and should even out with it in WW numbers here soon.

The shift in multiplayer types coupled with marketing has really paid off.

And it looks like that's without bundles.  You can no longer get the KZ3/PS3 bundle online via Best Buy or Wal-mart, and on Amazon the bundle is going for $370 instead of $299.99 like before.

Best Buy's website also says none of the six stores closest to my area have the bundle.  I guess it was a pretty temporary deal.

(This post was originally going to be "but those are probably all bundled sales!" until I went to Amazon lol.)
