Forums - Gaming - What was the single best game last generation, do you think?

Although I enjoyed Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, PM:TTYD, and Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, I'll go with The Wind Waker.

Currently Playing: Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Super Smash Bros for Wii U

Predictions:

Super Mario Galaxy will pass Super Mario 64 in total sales CORRECT!

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess ended the 6th generation on the highest possible note.

QFT, but I consider it a Wii game.

Top 3 favorite games: Super Mario Galaxy, The Sims 2 (PC), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Shadow of the Colossus

Off the top of my head?

I'd go Eternal Darkness.

Single best all-around? I haven't played it for any more than a half hour or so, but I feel confident in saying Resident Evil 4. Phenomenally pretty, awesomely fun, and just about perfect in every way.

As for my "tilt" pick, I'd have to go with Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. It's not for everyone by any means, but it is the most fun I've had with any last-gen game aside from maybe Katamari Damacy. But while Katamari is the mostly-mindless, relaxing sort of fun, playing Nocturne is cerebral in a way that few RPGs - or, well, games in general - are. You need to constantly think about the decisions you're making, from the fast-paced turn-based combat to the nigh-endless Pokemon-style customization. It's just too bad that so few people have played it.

I know that's two games, but I couldn't narrow it down to one all-encompassing pick. :)

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Nocturne also had Dante (from DMC) as a playable character too XD. Seeing Dante in turn based fighting is...odd but cool.

That too! Apparently somebody from Atlus Japan knew one of the lead developers for DMC2, so they managed to nab his persona for the game.

I didn't figure out how to get him on my first playthrough, but maybe the second time!
