Well... What if you don't get married until later in life? The average marriage age in the USA is something like 26 for men and 27 for women. If at least some of those people keep their virginity until marriage, then it shouldn't be considered odd to be a virgin past college.

Oh, I'm definitely planning in staying a virgin until I get married, so probably mid to late 20s, at least.

It's not weird to be a virgin, though...(I'm conservative, so I'm biased, but I don't get why people think that sex is an integral part of the teenage years. Heck, I barely know what it is. And somehow, I'm okay with that)

Well, we sure have a future teenage parent on our hands.

Yep...That's me. Expect to see me with babies in about two years *sarcasm*

We'll be seeing. Since you don't even know what sex is, you probably won't even know it when you'll do it.

Seriously though, you don't know how sex works? I knew how sex worked at the age of 13. Heck, I knew more about birth control at that age then my parents.

I sorta' know how it's supposed to work, but not really. I don't know anything about female anatomy concerning the lower abdomen, so...Not a big deal, though, since it won't affect me anytime soon. I don't like getting touched. I don't even like hugging, so I doubt that anyone will ever be able to make me do anything.

I'm one of the proud and few, huh? Most people know how it works when they're in middle school, don't they? I'm almost a senior in high school. Lots of girls think that it's great that I, you know...actually look at their face when I'm speaking to them. Actually, all of my friends are girls...

Not the greatest of signs for hetrosexuality mate , I have plenty of female friends, but considerably more male ones. As revolting as they may be sometimes, males share much more interests with me, games, music, books, shows etc. When girls mention games it's usually something like Just Dance(Which I don't mind much) or some niche Wii title. I want to talk about Crysis 2, COD or something akin to that. When girls mention music it's some softcore bands like Justin Beiber, All Time Low etc, whereas with guys we can discuss System, Linkin Park, Papa Roach etc. Books guys read adult fantasy whereas girls usually tend to read stuff akin to Harry Potter and Twilight, speaking from personal experience here >.>, shows wise girls always tend to try to talk to me regarding some soap opera or a talent show, with guys I can discuss comedy stuff that I see such as Scrubs, How I met your mother, Big Bang theory etc.

At the end of the day, I think it depends on your preferences unless you have some pretty hardcore female friends.

Haha...It's okay. I'm straight, don't worry (well, leaning more towards asexuality since I think that physical contact is weird) I will definitely agree that one should NEVER try to talk to girls about music, but they're generally civilized otherwise. And I don't watch much TV, so I don't care. And the most violent console game that I have (outside of 999) is Monster Hunter Tri or Goldeneye 007, and they don't qualify as violent as far as games go. Until I go away to college next year, I won't be able to own any violent video games.

It's just my personal preference. Guys scare me about 99% of the time. I grew up in an abusive household, so that really didn't raise my opinion about guys at all. Plus, I've never been able to have a conversation that lasts longer than 5 minutes with a guy because I can't stand it when they start making jokes about sex or female anatomy. I haven't had a male friend since I was 10.

So, at this point, I've pretty much given up on high school-aged guys as far as friends go. Maybe it'll be different once I'm in college. I'm pretty inept when it comes to striking up a convo with a dude, so maybe not even then!

Here in NZ it's probably actually the 18-21 group weirdly, at least for males. It's higher for the girls.

@flashpoint: i think you are more mature than the average guy of your age. don't worry, when you'll go to the college you'll find more and more guys like you... just don't give up on male friendship. i don't like too much beeing among males (i think 70% of my friends are females) but male friendship isn't something easy to replace with female-male friendship, you just have to find some friend who doesn't think constantly about sex and vulgar jokes.

to go back on topic i don't think there is an age when it becomes weird to be virgin. one should lose his/her virginity when he/she really feels about it. i lost my virginity at the age of 20 (now i'm 23, going for 24). i think i was a little late respect the people i knew, but i'm happy i waited to it with the person i loved (and i still love)

I felt weird being a virgin at 16, but looking back I would say after 20 it is kind of weird unless you really are ugly or have anziety disorders to the extreme.    My friend who is 22 and a virgin and no girlfriend is often thought by people he might be gay, poor guy, but even  Iwonder myself considering he is hotshit . I mean in a non gay way. lol

Hmmm...Odd that it would come up online, but I get told quite often that I'm more mature than most guys my age. Anyway, male/female friendships have completely different dynamics, so it doesn't surprise me that I have issues with it. It'll be fine, just not during high school, which is okay with me.

Back on topic... Well, I don't think that having...ahem...relations before college is good, because I'm pretty sure that teenagers have no clue what love is. They might know what lust is, but love itself just isn't a concrete concept. The need for emotional acceptance or hedonism seems to be the motivator for teenage sex, as far as I can tell.

People's brains don't finish developing until age 24 or so (I think), so I'd hate to make a decision I'd regret so quickly. It wouldn't be fair to my future wife or to myself. And it affects guys, too. The idea of purity isn't given as much thought as far as guys go, but I have an acquaintance who had sex (he's 16), and he's not too happy about it now.

Even though I don't quite understand sex itself, I know that it requires you to give yourself up to another person completely, which is NOT a good thing to do. I don't understand how people can give themselves up to another person so readily. Which is also why I don't really like the idea of teenage dating, either. I don't understand why people do it.

^The sooner you realise that love isn't a necessity for sex and virginity isn't for your wife, the better.

Of course it's not a requirement (otherwise premarital sex wouldn't exist), but then it just degenerates into hedonism, doesn't it? And what is virginity for, then?

If it's not meant to be saved for your spouse, then who's to say that extramarital or multiple partners is unethical and unsanctioned? If it were ethical, then STDs wouldn't exist, would they? How else do you get them?

I mean, if what you're saying is true, then by your viewpoint, we should look up to people who have multiple sex partners. If that's true, then why do STDs exist?

Hedonism? I view having sex as an exploration of my own sexuality rather than just another way to enjoy myself, I don't lack these... it is something that helps you to get to know your partner as well... a personality reflects in it.

As for the other comment, once you commit, you commit. That's what makes it unethical and traitorous if you sleep around.

Sooo.... okay. Exploration of sexuality. Fine. But why would a person need to explore with another person so early in life? Doesn't sex require you to give yourself up emotionally to another person? Unless, as I said, you're doing it for pleasure's sake, in which case it degenerates into hedonism.

Anyway, even if sex allows you to grow more intimate with a partner, don't you want to get to know your partner before any activity occurs, rather than depending on a sexual encounter to define a person?

So... are you basically saying that sex with other people is fine until you commit? After that, you're stuck? Because that's just... I mean, imagine getting married and then telling someone on your honeymoon, "Oh, hey, I've already had sex with 4 people, by the way." Not real fair.
