Well America's getting the 3DS tomorrow and so the 8th generation in gaming begins ..... it's this time to put our PS3, XBOX360 and Wii in the box again??? Of course not, but I think it's a good time to check your opinion about what gameplay mechanics or elements you don't want in the next generation, things that some developers think they're cool but ended up being annoying.

Unskippable cutscenes: Well yes sir, some developers are so pround about their cutscenes that force yu to watch the entire thing in order to understand the complex storyline and catch every detail about the game, but if you play the game 2, 3 or more times it's really annoying; plus most of the videogames storylines are just bad,

Quick Time Events: Thank you Yu Suzuki for the gift of tapping random buttoms in order to continue with the game. Now we have dozens of game with broken mechanics and annoying results, but honestly few games get the concept right, while others ended up messing the whole thing and are extremly tedious. (like Dante's Inferno and its QTE door..... why do we need a QTE to open a frickin door???)

Trop/Ach that consists in repeat the same action: Trophies and Achievements are the greatest award for any gamers, but sometimes I guess it's just the reflection of some developer trying to use the player as its little puppet; so in order to get that precious little picture you need to repeat the same action over and over, even if the action in question is stupid or pointless like kicking 50 dogs, jumping hundreds of times over the same spot or using every single piece of cloth in a mall infested with zombies.

Useless AI partner: Co-op play is big this generation; so what happen when you're playing the campaign or the game alone? well some games ahndle you a nice partner to help you .... or messing the all thing. The point is that very few AI partners are useful, most of them just stand over the same spot, waste items or are just plain stupid, so no matter how hot your partner is, you're going to hate it at the end.

Super small text on screen: Dear developers. We know that you work long hours in front of a computer screen to create the games that we love. But did you know that most people play your games in a tv?? That's right and even if tvs these days are quite big we still watch them from a considerable distance, so please use a big font or at least give us a option to change the size of it. Thanks a lot.

Can you modify the poll for one more option? I would like to vote "Yes." All of those can go like yesterday. Admittedly I don't care about the achievment one, but thats because I don't care about achievements.

All of them, plus the idea of making games into "cinematic" movies and forcing a cliched story onto every game action. That aspect of games has been getting worse in direct proportion to graphics improving.

games shorter than 10 hours. heck, once games under 25 hours were considered short...

Motion controls en masse... but I don't think I'll get my way.

We wouldn't need skippable cutscenes if the story writing and acting weren't so bad, and the cutscenes weren't either rendered in engine highlighting all the short comings or consist of badly compressed fmv of pre-rendered in engine scenes.

There used to be a time when cut scenes were a reward to watch, showing what might be capable in the next generation. This generation only ff13 and white knight chronicles blew me away with their cut scene quality. (sadly still not because of the acting)

Why bother having a story at all if you do it like Killzone 3 or Gears 2.

I just want developers to learn not to make trophies unrewarding and more fair for both gamers who play a lot and those who don't.

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

I can deal with all of these but one.QTE.Since they became mainstream with RE4 and GoW they are a huge pain in the ass.The worst and most useless element a videogame can have.

I had only three experiences with "Quick Time Events":

1) The Last Remnant

2) Resident Evil 4

3) Tomb Raider Legend

And I was extremely desapointed in all of then.

By the way someone know a single game where quick time events add something to the gameplay?
