I just saw this on my local news.

I'm speechless. This is terrible. It just sickens me to think that "people" can act this way towards animals. Beating up a 59 year old chained down elephant with a pitchfork, the poor thing is terrified. That's just as low as it gets. I must warn you, if you click the link you have to be prepared to watch the video, it's harrowing.

One of the things I detest most in the world, and I mean makes me physically sick, is cruelty to animals. Especially when it's like this, where there is no point and the animal is innocent and vulnerable.

The only real comfort I can get from this is that now it's exposed the people responsible will have a tough life (including the owner, who in my view didn't take the steps to ensure this didn't happen). They will lose their business/jobs, they will become bankrupt and will probably end up in jail (hopefully)... And they deserve every bit of it.

I'm fuming, I haven't been this angry in a long time.

No the elephant is healthy (for her age) and happy apparently. She'll hopefully have a good life from here on.

We really need to talk more about animal rights. This is unworthy of humanity.

It's always women's rights, the environmrnt, global warming, racism, abuse of workers, gay rights. Meanwhile the amount of animal suffering is magnitudes higher and not talked about.

Plus we need to target people who openly defend abuse towards animals just as hard as we target racists, sexists and homophobes.

But maybe it's because there's only like a dozen of us here in the off-topic section of the forums nowadays.
