Forums - Sales - WW 25th march up!

So the 360 is pretty much right (but looking at Japanese figures that's only because there's so few consoles being sold to non-english speaking countries!), whilst the other consoles are way off...

Maybe they should look at past sales patterns and adjust the numbers accordingly, before they go out. Or they should split them. But the data seems rather unreliable for this area, whilst America and Japan seem pretty constant most of the time

Yeah. VGC is more accurate where there are good tracking services like Japan (MC and Famitsu), Americas (NPD for US) and big EMEAA countries (Chart-track for UK, German, Spain, France, etc).

The problem is that while the NPD cover 85% (or more) of Americas sales, MC/Famitsu cover almost 100%... Chart-track just cover 50% of EMEAA sales.

EMEAA sales are the big innacurate part of VGC.

For hardware because for software is even worst because the tracking sevices just show TOP10/TOP20.

EMEAA NUMBERS ARE LOOKING OFF. NOT ONLY THAT, JAPAN SALES ARE NOT GOING TO BE NORMAL. THIS GOES TO SHOW THAT NUMBERS ARE OFF. Waiting for shipments.

Why? The Japan numbers are the most accurate because there are two official tracking services supporting its.

So why Japan are off?

EMEAA I agree... there are always PS3 sales not tracking in Asia, mid-east, etc.

I agree that Japanese numbers are right, but if I think that if anything's off in EMEAA, I think that VGC are over with PS3. I think they'll be over-compensating for not being able to track each individual country proberly by adding a set percentage of the number on each week, which seems high to me...

EMEAA should be split into Europe and MEAA IMO. That way far less data is unreliable

It would damage VGC image and its chances to sell its business analysis services: MEAA region would have ~50% error margin, separated from Europe!

Better to put your biggest inaccuracies in one area and have 3 rather reliable sections, which likely contain over 90% of WW sales anyway

Wii still hanging in there with nothing really noticeable to keep sales driving it. It makes me wonder what the numbers would have been for Sony and MS if Kinect and Move didint happen. Do you think they'd have been dead in the water without motion control systems?

dude less than 1/5 of PS3 sales were with move bundles... PS3 wouldve been just fine without move.

This confuses me then, because everyone is touting Move as a major success. If only 1/5 of the PS3 sales since Move released was actually due to the Move, then is it really doing well?

simple answer... no.

simple answer... yes.

it is doing well.

kinect is doing phenomonally, destroying move. but move is still doing well

Im curious what the Move sales to PS3 ownership ratio is. As in, what percentage of PS3 owners bought Move setups.

Why are Japan numbers nearly unaffected by the tsunami and quake? Strange.

Still, good week overall, surprised to see the 360 dip below the Wii for now though but even more surprised to see the DS move such numbers with the recent 3DS Japan launch and imminent EMEAA and Americas launch. That thing just won't die!

I'm surprised the DS is still selling this well so close to the 3DS release date in EMEAA and America, surely it can't last forever

It's a smart idea to put the week in the thread title, as there are probably over a hundred Worldwide Up thread, but get the week right LOL!

PS3 is dominating, I dunno how the PS3 is holding the gap it established over 360 after the launch of Killzone 3, but damn. Unless MS picks up in the holidays of the mountain of multiplatform titles even things out between then, I think PS3 will be ontop of 360 this year.

Question is, can PS3 match 360's 6th year figure of 13.6 million (I think)?

Next week the 3DS is released in EMEAA (came out March 25th, week ends 26th), so it's sales should be up ontop again for at least 2 more weeks. I hope some of the software starts to see, specifically I want to see Kid Icarus sell so the franchise is rebooted.

Also wow for Halo sales. 27 weeks after launch and it's still holding figures above 50 million, but I believe it's because Wal-Mart had a temporary price cut on the game. GT5 nowhere to be seen.

it's gonna surpass that with no problem

You think that japan is on when the country in mass tragedy. I highly doubt after a earthquake and tsunami that sales are just peachy.

What about PS2, that thing is selling after 3 years of PS3... why can't DS sell after 3DS's release, GBA sold over 20M after the release of DS< prepare to see monster LT sales for DS, it will sure pass 160M by end of year,

IT could sell another 20M or so before it settles, it will sure post good numbers near the holidays for sure, 160M plus is my guess.
