Forums - Gaming Discussion - IGN Crysis 2 graphics 9.5 for x360 & 8.5 for ps3 !!!

osamanobama said:

unless ign is right and the ps3 version is that much worse, it doesnt even compare to killzone 3, not even close.

dont get me wrong it looks amazing but (especially the lighting) KZ just has so much stuff going on and still runs smooth and looks top notch throughout. even ignoring the slight framerate issues of crysis (which is easy, its not too bad) it doesnt compare to KZ3.

i wonder who this reviewer is and if he has some kind of agenda.

but anyway, going of lense of truth, the versions look basically the same (pros and cons to each).

and i will be waiting on digital foundries review.

i also hate how ign, has given xbox versions of games higher scores (when they perform better), but they dont do it to ps3 versions that are better. but like most of use here, i havent taken ign seriously for years now. they are idiots, about everything

digitalfoundry is the way to go!

to be fair pretty much all publications are saying the 360 version looks better.

And after playing Crysis on 360 today there's no more debate on whether the 360 can handle PS3 exclusive level graphics.  Crysis easily looks as good or better than Killzone, Uncharted, or God of War.  And I wasn't even that impressed or excited with video I had seen but after playing it its freaking gorgeous.

You know its about time developers started getting their gear in ass and getting PS3 like graphics onto the 360...We've been waiting too damn long!

Preach it, brother!

Well Gears of War 3 will be another title that can be added to the list of best looking console games and that beta starts next month. Can't wait to see and play that beauty. Going to be amazing. In the meantime Crysis 2 is miles better than I thought it would be (gameplay) and the graphics are also amazing.

I also don't understand why the hell would Crytek, EA, or whoever was in charge of that demo would pick Skyline. I actually went through walkthroughs of each map in private matches and Skyline is by far the worst looking map. It would be like having the Halo Reach beta and only having Forge maps for it.  The MP map Sanctuary looks awesome, almost as beautiful as the SP. HEck all the Mp maps look awesome minus Skyline being average and Pier 17 looking a little better than that. Worst maps on the game were on the demo. I guess they wanted to shock everyone with the true finished product.

Well then the PS3 version of Crysis 2 must not compare to the 360 version because the 360 version of Crysis 2 looks better than Killzone 3. I compared them both side by side today at my friends house and all 4 of us unanimously agreed Crysis 2 looks better....significantly better.

well ign is the only site so far that thinks crysis looks significantly better on xbox, not even lense of truth, who are wayyy more reputable.

so im calling bs on ign's part

I didn't say it looked significantly better because A. I haven't seen it on PS3 and B. I doubt it does, but when you say Crysis 2 isn't even close graphically to KZ3 (which is bullshit) and you have played the PS3 version then I have to put 2 and 2 together and say that you have a bias or the PS3 version must be alot worse than the 360 version because Crysis 2 easily holds its own against Killzone 3. I think it looks better but thats an opinion.

its just so much simpler looking, not nearly as much stuff going on. its great looking but not awe inspiring like a lot of the killzone levels were, with just so much stuff going on, things flying every where, stuff exploding.

crysis is just a much simpler game (with a kick ass lighting system, man the beams of light that shines through the water is great)

edit: my wording in my previous post was a bit mis leading/wrong. i should not have said its not even close. it is, but just not as much as ign is making it seem

Interesting. I got this email from my mate just yesterday. Did IGN base their review on the poor PS3 demo. Seems other sites are not agreeing with IGN. I guess Lens of Truth is not related to frame rate? Maybe....

Seems like in the retail version of Crysis 2, the PS3 has better graphics than the 360.

Odd considering the PS3 demo of Crysis 2 was far worse than the 360 and even at a lower res.  Wonder why they released such a poor demo on the PS3?

One more time. Click the link below for a detailed description of how the game was reviewed.

http://www.ign.com/blogs/arthur-ign/2011/03/22/how-i-reviewed-crysis-2

No reputable site would ever review a games performance off a demo. If you disagree with the review and can support your opinion that's totally fair. Just don't discredit the review/reviewer by flat out making shit up or supposing the absurd.

Maybe you need to look at this from how he reviewed and it kind of shows that not all things are equal. EA were not setup properly in that there was an obvious over representation for the 360 version. So how do we even know if the review version is the final build at all? From your link on "how" it was reviewed.

quote, "At this event, EA had around 16 stations set up with Crysis 2 for Xbox 360. In another room, there was one PS3 build available, and a pair of PCs brought by Nvidia to show off the game on their hardware."

He goes onto say he finally played the retail version a day later or so but why would EA put a non-retail version (1 only) on the floor in the first place. Something don't add up. That's all I am saying.

Well the PS3 is since 2 years on the Limit only the Xbox 360 has the power to handle a Game like Crysis 2.

just because LoT's comparison is not true

for example, the 4th pic(360 version) is not like LoT in game

and for graphics,i would say same for 2 version...well,but i don't know about frame-rate

I really wish I could get a copy for the ps3 and 360 so I could figure it for myself. I might just have to rent the game for both systems to find out for myself and not base it on somebody else. Then I could compare it to Killzone 3 . If Crysis looks as good or better than KZ3 than I hope other developers attempt to up the anti of the graphics. Graphics are not the most important, but every guy likes a perfect 10 babe over an 8. The same goes with games.

I was going around the site claiming Crysis 2 wasn't all that impessive a couple months back and have claimed multiple times that Killzone 3 is the best game graphics wise I've ever played.

After playing Crysis 2 today that changed.  It's definatley the best looking console game.

My point is to really see if there is a difference between the PS3 and 360 versions so that I will be glad I did not suport a company that continues the trend of making PS3 versions of games inferior and so I can make my own opinion and not base it on anothers. You may be correct, but I want to know with my own eyes.

Maybe at this point you should blame it on Sony for not making the PS3 easier to program for instead of blaming it on almost every studio. Studios are out to make money, not to spend an extra 2-3 months programming for the PS3 so it maximizes it and looks a little better.

That is possible, yet it is also possible they thuink they will sell more copies on 360 so they make sure to have the best product for the most number of people. Either way most multiplats do not have a big difference so ome developers are getting the job done right for everyone and others are not. I believe in equality.

Edit: After further review, I believe there is hardy a difference between the consoles. I still am curiuos to buy one copy and rent it for the other just to make my own opinion.

They gave "the best looking came on console" a 9.5 for Graphics?

Then Uncharted 2 must be "the bestest looking game on console" because they gave it a 10 ?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

"But it is a world whose intricacy and realism will cause you to stop and stare long after the first drop of the jaw. The sway of tree-tops; the spray of a decorative fountain; the flames erupting from a burst gas pipe: incidental details that grab your attention for their quiet, shocking realism. Who knows how Crytek managed to squeeze Cry Engine 3 onto the consoles while maintaining such extraordinary level of detail? But this world sits next to Uncharted 2's as the most detailed and well-expressed yet seen on our TVs.

Though about the millionth FPS built around a plot of an alien invasion, give or take a few, it's also the most beautiful.

Gamezone

The game looks utterly stunning and is arguably one of the best-looking shooters on consoles. I'm still undecided whether Crysis 2 looks better than the original game, but the fact that there is a discussion about which looks better speaks volumes on what Crytek was able to accomplish with their engine.

It might come up slightly short compared to Killzone 3 in raw mettle, with an occasionally inconsistent framerate on our PS3 version, but the game is leagues ahead in terms of artistic accomplishment.

Crysis 2 is bloody gorgeous, and by far one of the most polished games we've ever played. Watching the cityscape come crashing down around you in all its HD glory is quite the sight, especially in some of the more open areas midway through the main campaign. Whether you've diving across rooftops or making your way into the heart of an alien hive, it's all jaw-dropping throughout.

Somehow the team over at Crytek has found a way to make their sequel just as visually remarkable as the original and without the need to spend a fortune on a fancy new video card and extra RAM (on the console at least)

Crysis may have been the benchmark game on PC but for console owners there might be a new kid on the block as Crysis 2 really is a sight to behold.

Although Crysis 2 swaps an actual jungle for the urban variety, the level of near photorealism remains. Despite the impressive scale the attention to detail is second to none: from hedges that shed leaves as you run through them to the filtering of light through a half-destroyed wall. That all this is running on a middle-aged console, not a state of the art PC, only makes it more impressive.

Listen guys and gals you or ign can say whatever the hell you want but below is a video link to Lensoftruth, they have put up a comparison video of the ps3 and 360 retail version of the game, no analisys yet but the video is HD 720 of course though, and unless your just blind, IGN is just full of S***.

Throughout the entire video both versions look almost identical, there were a couple of occasions i noticed some slight framerate dipping on the ps3 but there were also some spots were the ps3 acutally had more detail than the 360 version, more partical effects if you will, there is a section when you can see leaves floating through the air as the wind blows on the ps3 but there not there in the 360, this happened a couple of times, watch the video several times if you like tell me what you guys really think, but all that really matters is that you enjoy the game on what ever console you own and if you own both well good for you rich kid......:)
