It could be good, it could also disoppoint. I hope it's good.
Deus Ex 1 was one of the best games of all time. It had everything: Free choice, compelling story, great Action, good soundtrack and so on.
I hope Human Revolution is as great as the original was, but i have my doubts. Even if the new game is just the half of the original it will be great. I want to kick Bob Pages ass again^^!
I got my copy preordered : )

The game seems pretty awesome and I don't think I've seen many bad signs yet but considering how much many games have promised and how they've ended up, I'm pretty skeptic about this one.
A bit of a preview to the music and theme of Deux: Human Revolution. Personally i am loving it.

Enjoy :)
The HYPE for this game is too LOW!
I must do my job to help it by Bumping an awesome thread for an awesome game!
HYPE!!!!
| CGI-Quality said: Deviating from previous titles in the series, Human Revolution will use a regenerating health model. This change was made because the developers didn't want players to get into a situation where they were unable to progress due to low health, and would be forced to "scrounge for med packs." They see this scrounging behavior as breaking the flow of the game when one retreats to search the entire level for medical supplies. They believe their regenerating health model will still encourage tactical and strategy forming retreats, but not to the extent where the tension and flow of the game is disrupted. Despite using a regenerating health model, the game will still include health restoring consumables, such as food. |
Really? crap, that was one of my favorite parts of Deus Ex. When you run out of health, you were forced to rethink your plan of action. When you have regenerating health, there's nothing forcing to not shoot everyone in the face. I actually felt like I was there when I had low health, I would constantly taking any food I could find, be extra sneaky, and attack from behind with just a baton to save ammo. I'm seriously rethinking about buying this game now.
I guess I'll just start a new game in Deus Ex for now.
To those that are interested I played the leaked press version of the game.
**Slight Spoliers WARNING**
The game plays very much like the original Deus Ex, and not like IW. The extra large inventory system has returned, the levels are extremely unlinear, and the "freedom to play how you choose" isn't a gimmick. The leaked version is about 4-10 hours long (depending on your play-style + optional missions). There is a decently sized district of detriot you can roam around and do side missions, the size is slightly larger than the free-roam Hong Kong from DX 1. However it is much more interactive, there are very few buildings that cannot be entered and almost anything that you can go in ties in with the main story/side missions. As far as the main plot goes it looks like its developing in the same fashion as DX1. Adam Jensen is a bit of a corporate tool and is doing Sarrif Industries Dirty Work, you are given choices early on to rebel against your employer, and the story begins to branch in different directions literally from the first mission.
The RPG element is done very well too, there are only a few BS augmentations but the upgrades for the most part are exetremely cool, some examples:
-Strength upgrade, by default you cannot pick up exetremely heavy objects, with this you can stack things like dumpsters in the city to say break into a walled, secure area Mario style lol. Also this Aug has mulitple branches, one allows you to upgrade your stength to allow you to punch through walls and knock out enemies on the oppisite side... exactly like you saw in the trailer.
-Retinal upgrade, by default you are given your HUD, with upgrades you are given an option of X-ray vision, with branching options like "Smart Vision" this allows you to see an enemies current ammo, when hes reloading, and when he will pop out of cover.
Those are 2 of about 20ish.
Gunplay is done very well also, all the weapons are upgradable like in DX1(Silencer, laser sight, AP, Ammo capacity, etc..) all weapons have ADS/hip fire as expected in modern day shooters. Health regenration is very harsh on the hardest difficutly (I didn't try the lower ones), 3 shots brings you down to 10% and its a good 10 second wait for it to fully regenrate. The consumables for health were really underpowered (at least the ones I found). Painkillers restore about 25HP, not very much considering how far and few between you will find them. Overall I'm extremely excited for this game, the alternate paths outside of run and gun can sometimes be pretty difficult to pull off so it may not please those who didn't like DX1, but it will do the series some justice after the atrocity of IW.
Feel free to ask any other questions via this thread/PM.
I was hyped for this game the second I saw the trailer, Im loving the graphics, the music and the futuristic setting!
Now the real problem is gonna be which console version to get
