Get a PS3. You will be pleased with it. BTW I think you can pretty easily kill your X360 to secure the replacement...

If you don't have a PS2 get the PS3 with backwords compatability. PS2 has some killer games. So does the Wii... but the PS2 games are cheaper.

If you do have a PS2 get the Wii. Actually, on second thought. Get a Wii AND a PS2. That's an even better gaming value then the PS3... and I'm pretty sure it's cheaper then a PS3 with backwords compatability.

"$500 towards" means you can buy any console and games, and they will pay for up to $500 of the cost of it. You can buy anything, but above $500 you'll begin to have to put in your own money too.

I recommend you buy a Wii and all the games you can get up to $500. If you buy a PS3 or Xbox 360, you'll get fewer games before you have to start spending your own money.

If you only want a PS3 for 2 games, it doesn't sound like it has much payoff for you. Unless you're nuts about HD movies, I guess.

If you go Wii, you should be able to pick up at least four games to go along with the system for that $500 budget, plus Sports. Sounds sweet. The tough part will be finding a Wii.

Finally, you could pick up a new 360 with a couple games and sell your old, unfried one. Use that money to fund more gaming goodness.

Saying that the PS3 ha only 2 good games ... well thats pretty ^%$$# . Seriously , games like Uncharted , R&C , Assasins Creed , COD 4 , Ressistance , Ninja Gaiden , Heavenly Sword , Wrahawk etc. are more than enough to keep you entertained untill games like MGS4 , FFXIII , GT5,   KZ2 , DMC4 , RE5 come out :)

A Wii or a DS is a good buy for the 500$, you can get an extra controller and nunchuck plus a few games for the Wii, on the DS you can get a ton of games. You'll be ready to go right away with the Wii. Wait until the PS3 drops down to the 199$ level and pay for one out of pocket then if you still want it. That way hopefully the greatest hits series will be out for it as well and you'll get a lot more for your money.

Get a 80 gig PS3, and as many games as you can get (try and get a Wii now, and you'll be stuck with stock issues).

Then sell the PS3 in Jan for as much as you can (plus the games), then purchase a Wii once they get restocked. Pocket the change :)

everyone and their mama knows i dislike sonys game division but if i had the choice of a free console id get the ps3... i already own a 360 (launch console never had one problem at all... even with the games such as oblivion and mass effect where people encounter problems with the games themselves ive still never run into any issues... good luck maybe... or me and the 360 were a match made in video game heaven) and a wii so itd be a simple choice for me but even if i was in yopur shoes you already have a 360 and you can get a wii for half the price of a ps3 so why waste the freebie on the cheapest available and sony will have a game or two that while not worth the price of admission (price of buying a ps3 even if it was $199) is well worth sneaking into the theatre to watch after finishing your movie (the price of one game instead of console plus game)
