oh, i'm not knocking 3DS sales at all (well i guess i did but i was being sarcastic) cause it has done great in japan so far and i expect it to be no different elsewhere.

...it's just, amazon has shown itself to be a frequent outline to overall market performance and therefore not to be taken too seriously ... baby seals and all that jazz.

I'm more surprised that PS3 pre-orders were above Wii's, considering that in my local area there as a large surplus of PS3s immediately following launch back in 2007, while the Wii was sold out everywhere for at least several months.

Well I dunno why it is that way. When I camped outside EB to get my Wii pre-order, the same night Sony fans were also camping out. Five pre-orders per store. Alot more Wii fans showed up to pre-order then PS3 though they were all turned away.

Also some of the PS3 fans weren't their for a PS3. They were their so they could sell one for 1K on Ebay. Alot of them thought demand was going to be huge and that they could make a pretty penny. Maybe alot of Amazon's pre-orders came from moron's hoping to make a quick buck by selling their systems.

Another possibility could be the amount of PlayStation fans at the time of PS3's launch compared to Nintendo fans. Alot of the people buying Wii were casuals who didn't care to get one day one, where as the Sony fanbase was much more driven to get one day one.

I guess these could factor into why PS3 out performed Wii. Hopefully this doesn't end up being the case with 3DS. I wanna see 120 million 3DS's sold lifetime!

anyway, its great news for the industry as a whole and im looking forward to getting my 3DS on the 25th. oh and this is the first i've heard of amazon dropping it to £187... yay

ive heard that if you subscribe to official nintendo magazine in the uk you get a free copy of ridge racer 3DS, anyone knoe if this is true?

I don't get how 187 29 = 210.... but anyways that's a huge decrease from the original 250£ for the 3DS :p

I just pre-ordered it the other day,as this system is probably going to be the last gaming system I ever buy.

There's also that the Wii wasn't all that popuilar before launch.  At launch, most of the guys lined up were Zelda fans like me.  It wasn't until after launch, when Wii Sports got into people's homes and that positive word of mouth started to spread, that the Wii became the sensation it did.

On the other hand, the PS3 had every hardcore PlayStation fan's interest, even at that absurd high price.
