For $60 I expect cutting edge graphics and excellent gameplay. There are enough choices out there to where I don't have to settle for one or the other. Thats just me.

I hope this game at least succeeds on the 360 to provide a true, high-quality gaming experience. I know it ain't going to happen on the PS3 with this game.

Interesting to see if the review scores will reflect this.

How so?

Reviewers who say Crysis 2 has best graphics on consoles:

Eurogamer                Cynamite               SpazioGames

360 Achievements                      MS Xbox World

your sig i rather misleading, many of those sites dont say anything about it being the best graphics on conoles

Crytek managed to squeeze Cry Engine 3 onto the consoles while maintaining such extraordinary level of detail? But this world sits next to Uncharted 2's as the most detailed and well-expressed yet seen on our TVs.http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-03-22-crysis-2-review?page=2

Eurogamer still says it’s next to Uncharted 2 which to many people is still the best looking console game. I know that was posted earlier but people seemed to turn it around and make it sound negative. That’s a huge honor. Cgi says the walls look flat up close in Crysis but yet Killzone 3 suffers from this same thing and it’s really liner. There are walls in killzone 3 that are so low res that they look pixilated and when you shoot them they don't even have a bullet decal. Every game is going to have low res textures this gen. Still doesn't take away from the lighting and all the other stuff going on in the game.

Yes, Killzone 3 has flat walls (never argued to the contrary), but so far, it isn't to the degree of Crysis 2. And unlike Crysis 2, Killzone 3 isn't called out by many reviews for glaring graphical mishaps (like texture pop-in).

From my personal experience thus far, Crysis 2 is a marvelous game, (with arguably better combat  moments than any other FPS on the market - including Killzone 3, although Killzone 3 is a far more hectic, true-to-war like experience) but it's not without it's graphical/performance issues. Nearly every wall I've looked at is flat (and it has some serious issues with shadowing, significant framerate drops, texture pop-in, and pixelated reflections). The water, lighting, and character models all look great however (truly, the game does look great), but I wouldn't say it's the best I've seen overall.

What really matters is that I'm having a great time with it! Opinions on graphics have done little to affect that.

Crysis does have many walls that are flat but none of them are as flat as the walls I've seen in killzone 3 that’s the point. The lighting and water effects take a dump on killzone 3. The weapon models are equal. The levels are far bigger in Crysis as well. Take a look at the buildings the skybox all these things look better than most games out there and yes even the mighty killzone 3. Shadows well again both games have shadow problems. In my opinion Crysis has better looking anti aliasing. There is a lot of texture pop in and killzone doesn't have this problem, but killzone is nowhere near as big as Crysis 2. So overall Crysis has many elements that are better than (in your opinion)  god like ps3 games. Does it beat them in every single way no but it doesn't have to. God of war 3 has some of the best looking things in a video game as does Crysis 2, but In Gow 3 there are things that look terrible. Like hair, character models other than kratos. The point is no game is perfect but In my opinion Crysis beats out killzone 3 and is the best looking fps I've seen. Best looking console game? If killzone 3 has that crown then yes, if it’s still uncharted 2? I would say that Crysis looks more realistic but Uncharted is still more consistent.I would say they are close with Crysis beating it in someways and Uncharted in others. Crysis looks better than good. (make sure you play it in hd) =p    Crysis looks fantastic. It doesn't hide in the dark or with the dark gray and brown. Crysis has color.

On another note this gen is just to old I really wish the next gen would hurry up and get here. Moble phones are gaining on our consoles this is awful. In many cases moble phones has more ram than the 360 and ps3.

Game changer at the very least

Ive read a lor of reviews and here we seem to have a multiplat, that seems to perform better on the 360 and is by all accounts a match (at least) for Killzone 3 (the proper barometer as it too is a FPS, though much more linear. I'm not going anywhere near UC2 as its a bogus comparison, after all we are talking FPS with a realistic visual here).

This turns things on their head... this wasnt possible... the gap in graphical abilities was now expected to widen as developers harnessed the "unlimited power" of the PS3 wasnt it?  I suppose that may still happen but what is now obvious from Crysis 2 is that up to now the 360 can match the PS3.  Gears 3 and Kingdoms will push the envelope that bit furtther I feel.

PS.  where is Mike B

Gears 3 is the Unreal Engine 3.5 after all (like Gears 2).

Kingdoms will be amazing with CryEngine 3 optmized just for 360.

That's actually an important point most people miss.  How do you compare one engine to another if designed for different tasks?  Should we look at GT5 in 1080p with the car detail it has on the premium models and the AA level and delcare it the best because it has the highest performance in those areas vs say Crysis at a lowly 720p?  I'd say of course not, there's just no criteria to make that comparison.

So I say you can't declare these overall winners, it's just a marketing/PR game and an attempt to satisfy the "masses" as viewed by the media.  Personally the only think to consider is technically how well is the engine coded, and how does it compare to comparable engines?

From what I've seen Crysis 2 on 360 looks to be more or less equal to Killzone 2/3 on PS3.  Both have flaws, neither is 100% perfect, and indeed both excel in slightly different areas, but both look and perform more or less comparably.  So far if there is a gap it's that KZ3 feels a little more robust, as I've already seen some funny AI glitches and the like in Crysis 2, although I think that's also a function of Crytek trying to get the game on console and preserve some (although I can tell you it's not all) of the open world AI and feel of Crysis on PC.

Uncharted 2 seems similar but is different - for example having to support a heck of a lot more platforming animation and movement than KZ2 or Crysis, for example.  For TPS Uncharted 2 probably remains the high bar although you could argue the toss with God of War 3 there.

For FPS from what I've played so far I'd say it's more or less a draw between KZ3/Crysis 2 on 360 (which looks a shade better from what I've seen), so really both sets of console owners should feel happy.  Everyone has access to the big multi FPS like CoD, 360 owners have Crysis 2 as a high end graphical FPS and PS3 owners have KZ3 and - even with the slight resolution drop reported - Crysis 2 as well.

Why is anyboday arguing really?

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

We can argue pointlessly back and fourth all day (although the graphical issues I've called out have been noticed  by nearly all reviews - while Killzone 3's issues you have are mostly from you), it will truly mean nothing (and btw, every review agrees that Killzone 3 has color). It was basically given universal praise as the new console benchamark, while in Crysis 2's case, it was mainly a select few. But I have not said it doesn't look fantastic (in fact, if you've been paying attention, I said it looks: phenomenal/exceptional/fantastic - all symbolizing "more than good". I'm just calling it as I saw it (which is what I said I would do).

I'm also not sure what you're getting at with the nonsense talk of "God-like" PS3 games (or trying to claim that KZ3 has no color), but since this is my last post to you, it matters little. I do agree with your last paragraph though.

Its not really a select few at this point. I counted 10 reviews calling it the best looking console game and more than that saying it equals anything out there.

Not that it matters much at this point, but I've counted 6 that flat out say "best looking/console benchmark", while many others just say it competes nicely with what's out there, say it doesn't quite clear the current graphcial benchmarks, or say it looks mighty fine to look at.

It's lot more than one mere site thats pleased with Crysis 2 on consoles

"But it is a world whose intricacy and realism will cause you to stop and stare long after the first drop of the jaw. The sway of tree-tops; the spray of a decorative fountain; the flames erupting from a burst gas pipe: incidental details that grab your attention for their quiet, shocking realism. Who knows how Crytek managed to squeeze Cry Engine 3 onto the consoles while maintaining such extraordinary level of detail? But this world sits next to Uncharted 2's as the most detailed and well-expressed yet seen on our TVs.

The game looks utterly stunning and is arguably one of the best-looking shooters on consoles. Crysis 2 is bloody gorgeous, and by far one of the most polished games we've ever played. Watching the cityscape come crashing down around you in all its HD glory is quite the sight, especially in some of the more open areas midway through the main campaign. Whether you've diving across rooftops or making your way into the heart of an alien hive, it's all jaw-dropping throughout.

Although Crysis 2 swaps an actual jungle for the urban variety, the level of near photorealism remains. Despite the impressive scale the attention to detail is second to none: from hedges that shed leaves as you run through them to the filtering of light through a half-destroyed wall. That all this is running on a middle-aged console, not a state of the art PC, only makes it more impressive.

Bolded and italicized are the sites calling it the best looking console game and/or best looking FPS on consoles. The rest are saying its up there with the best.
