Ima going to pass on this game, not cause of this review but because the file download is too big. anything higher than 5 gigs is stupid to me. theres a bluray freaking use it Sega. The game has to be spectaclar for me to get that. im running outta space and after playing #3 ill wait for a price drop or i clear my harddrive. not that 3 was bad it was good not great

What the fuck are you talking about?

btw i've already played this game to death , asian friends and region free PS3 FTW

how was it? from all gameplay vids I have seen it looked great..your opinion? (cuz to me ma peepz opinion >IGNorance)

Basically if you liked the other yakuza games you will like this, plus there are 3 other characters you play as and each has their storyline (though i played it without understanding japanese) , there are lots of interactions and every character has a different style of gameplay (IE one is a yakuza and one is a cop ...ect) and each has their own combo and fight style.

Oh hey, another western review of a Japanese game, maybe they'll fairly score the review and place the same emphasis on it's pros and flaws as they do with Western games. Nope, not this time, I guess bland gameplay, lengthy and detailed story, reused assets, old visuals and a boring soundtrack do deserve a lower score, oh wait, whats that, Dragon Age 2 got an 8/10? Even though it suffers from all the same problems and probably even more? Well ain't that quaint.

Japan shouldn't even try any more and they're better off just releasing bland, deriative and dude bro games, because obviously shooting someone in the nuts in Bulletstorm is more interesting than exploring a rarely seen open world with heaps of detail, fantastic characters and an interesting plot with RPG elements on the side.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

um no he doesnt have to do the sidequest to fully understand how the game works and if he will like it. you guys are mad because he gave his opinion that makes no sense. thats like telling a reviewer to fully upgrade your character on any rpg or an fps so you can get the full experience if not you shouldnt review it...... the fuc?

when the side questst are a big part of the game? yes he should

again, doubt anyone is 'angry' per se. Those who knows the series knows what to expect. And other reviews have been pretty good so far as well. IGN does some of the worst incomplete reviews I have seen in recent years.

not sure why you guys are so worked up about people complaining about this tho? and what's this nonsense about mechanics feeling old? what rubbish.

again. not a big deal,, IGN cred = 0 for me these days anyways.

The reviewer said he won't spend dozens of hours doing the optional stuff. That doesn't mean he didn't play the side-quests. He probably played a couple of side quests/mini-games to get a feeling of them. I don't think he should be requiredto  fully complete all side-quests/mini games, because that would take him a very, very long time. Reviewers have other obligations: they have other games to review, they have conventions to attend to, deadlines to meet, editing, video review, game coverage, previews, family, etc. He completed the main story, which matters the most.

actually he have to "Finish" the game fully to review it, remember how everyone reviewed Red Dead Redemption , they all talked about the side missions and how much of them there and how much stuff you can do with them?

from all this "Japaneze gamz SUX!" ign crap we're seeing i bet this is IGN before the tsunami happened

I have the Japanese Version of Ru Ga Gotoku 4 (Yakuza 4) and it is awesome, IGN always like this and the guy that reviewed it might not like this type of Japanese Game also if I am not mistaken FAMITSU gave it 10/9/9/9 for a score of 38/40.
