Because it's his job. Does anyone like every part of their job? As a reviewer he is supposed to play every part of the game, even if he doesn't like it. For example I'm a teacher and I think many of the things I'm supposed to teach are crap, but guess what, it's not up to me to decide what to teach. I get paid to do my job. The reviewer gets paid to write a prefessional review.
I got a beat em up style game after playing the demo.
Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

ign game yakuza 3 an 8.5 last year, im sure its not the same guy doing the yakuza 4 review. maybe the fact that yakuza 3 and 4 came within a year of each other affected the score. the dev is treating it like if its a reboot.
Being in 3rd place never felt so good
So if you've never played Yakuza before then get Yakuza 3 and skip out on Yakuza 4. This is what I will be doing.

The person who reviewed Y4 review, Greg Miller, reviewed Yakuza 3 as well, and he gave that one an 8.5. The reason why Y4 got a lower score was because he didn't enjoy the story. He loved the story in Y3 so much, that he was able to ignore a lot of Y3's faults. Also, it felt like the same game he played last year; there's only been minor improvements to the gameplay throughout the whole series. It's understandable how someone can get bored and think the series has gotten stale when they lost their drive.

um no he doesnt have to do the sidequest to fully understand how the game works and if he will like it. you guys are mad because he gave his opinion that makes no sense. thats like telling a reviewer to fully upgrade your character on any rpg or an fps so you can get the full experience if not you shouldnt review it...... the fuc?

when the side questst are a big part of the game? yes he should
again, doubt anyone is 'angry' per se. Those who knows the series knows what to expect. And other reviews have been pretty good so far as well. IGN does some of the worst incomplete reviews I have seen in recent years.
not sure why you guys are so worked up about people complaining about this tho? and what's this nonsense about mechanics feeling old? what rubbish.
