While difficult to see last year, because of the Wii introduction, and PS3's sales to Europe not until Mar 07, the VG weekly sales still tell the story that I think will be repeated again, only with higher numbers, especially for Wii and PS3, X360 if they are lucky.

The highest sales for all 3 machines were around 600k, Wii and X360 at Xmas, PS3 at Europe launch.   For X360 and PS3, sales tumbled down 84% or more to less than 100k a week.  Wii, for the most part averaged 250k, with a good deal of shortages, but not nearly as bad in the summer, late fall than now.  (after all, Leo got a pic of Wii boxes in August!!  :)  )   Now, X360 and PS3 have gone up 5x to 500k, the Wii up not quite 3x to 700k, though as I said, more shortages now. 

If X360 and PS3 drop back down to 150k a week for most of the year, and the Wii could say do 400k+ a week, allowing it to get up to the 50%, pre-holiday.  Then as the holidays hit, and the two other boxes jump up in sales, they could get up to say 750k in the holiday sales.  If the Wii could not substain 1.5M a week, then it would lose market share, enough to perhaps drop below 50% again.

And:  "Yep there will be more wii's than the people on earth."

But the pretty colors!!  You'll want a rainbow, especially when they change the blue light to be color coordinated with the box's color!!  (or if not you, your girl friend!)

 Actually very possible, you see Wii production isn't stuck at 1.8, it was set at 1.8 five months ago (as it takes five months to order parts from suppliers)but it can be ramped up, wii will easily pass 40 million next year and 80 million by end of 2009.

you never know wii could make a huge impact in china and other parts of asia plus nintendo increasing supply even more and then JL prediction can come true and sell 60 mil till end of 08 and 240 mil minimum life time

^with what DS is doing it might even be low for it

 And just remember the Wii is selling even faster than the DS (except Japan)

I feel it if I do not speak the English well, I am Spanish...

PS2 sold very well during 7 years, the Wii will not have a so long life. So that? Then because it is not good for extending the life of a console. 

It even watches the SNES, being first when it left the PSX and Saturn. And when it left the N64 already was too much late. Exactly the same it has happened to him to the PS3 with PS2.

I do not believe that the Wii lets be sold without reason.

What I think is that we are going to have a Next Gene, soon, because the companies have learned their errors. Good looking that will leave between 2010 and 2011, by that reason the Wii will not surpass in sales to the PS2.
