Crappy internet companies combined spiraling medical and governmental costs of existing programs make any suggestion of new programs anemic in support making it impossible to get anyone to pay for it.

As far as i can tell... the government just doesn't seem itnerestd.

Up until recently, the entire telenetwork infrastructure was handled by one company - BT. Others have started investing, but only on a small scale, atm. Virgin Media being the main one... still, a duopoly isn't much better than a monopoly.

Also, what looks like to be 20 ISPs is actually just a small handful of companies all operating under different brands.

Man Canada ranked 64th thats terrible. But at least we are above alot of other countries still its horrible that we are so bad!

Australia has slow internet due to lack of funding, and some bad government decisions that are hopefully about to be fixed. It has little to do with out demographics. The vast majority of Australia's land area is settled by a statistically insignificant number of people.

In Canada, we have 2 big corp having monopoly. They have no need to make things faster when they can already charge whatever the hell they like for the same old pipes.
