Today I went to the Nintendo website to regester my copy of Pokemon Black and I noticed something disturbing. Prior to regestering Black I wasn't even Gold status. After regestering Black I barely made Gold status. I looked at how many points I still need and it is 300. I freaked I have never fallen short of Platinum ever since the rewards program started two years ago.

I started thinking, why am I so short this year and realized other then Mario Galaxy 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Kirby I haven't really bought many Nintendo games. I then tried to think of what I'm buying in the coming months, I have 3DS but without knowing which Nintendo titles will be availible prior to July I don't think I'll make it.

Honestly out of the launch titles for 3DS none of the ones I intend to purchase are from Nintendo. I am tempted now to buy Nintendo titles just for the sake of getting Platinum but I don't want to buy games I'm not interested in. So if Nintendo releases enough 3DS titles prior to the end of the Club Nintendo year then I will make it, but its going to be close.

Anyone else falling short, do you usually get Gold or nothing. Or are you too finding yourself with far too few Nintendo purchases? 2010 was one of Nintendo's better years in my mind yet they still failed to sell me enough software!

Will they count the 3DS? If yes, yes, if not, no. I'm buying at least two Japanese games (probably first party, but Japanese) which is gonna screw me over for my USA-based account

Might want to start looking into older Nintendo games if you really want to hit plat this year. My advice would be to check for cheaper used / older games. Even if a copy is used I would bet 90% of the people that bought them never bothered to register their games.

Remember you have a decent amount of Wii and quite a few DS games that give coins. If you just hit gold status that means you are some where around 300 coins out of 600 needed for plat. I would venture a guess that 3ds is worth at least 200 coins (hopefully they give coins for it).Don't forget about post play surveys too (I have about 100 coins worth bulit up for a good head start for next year). You might want to just grab at least one nintendo 3ds game even if they don't look great (I am grabbing pilotwings for example since I need something to play on it and Street fighter 4 is not going to keep me occupied for 2 months before the big titles come out for it. A 3ds game should be worth about 60 coins for a 40 dollar game (10 coins extra for buying early and 10 coins later for post play).

In regards to just "buying games for coins" the nintendo plat reward has been great each year so far while the gold reward has been very average so I would say it is worth it. Also, a lot of old Nintendo games are not that bad: I think Dragon Quest series (about 4 of them on DS now I think) all can be registered with Nintendo.

I'm in Japan, where the Club year starts in October and I already have Platinum for this year. :)

I think I have enough to get gold, but need 3DS to get Platinum. 

Just added Pokemon so 40/600

Me making it is largely dependent on how many coins the 3DS is worth. I will get 50 for Pilot Wings Resort (assuming it's same as DS, 40 at first and 10 more a week later) which will kick me up to 400. Another 50 for OoT remake on 3DS. So as long as 3DS itself is 150 or more I am ok. (I am waiting on reviews for Steal Diver as I am unsure about it.)

I will not be any status this year. I've been Gold last two years, but this year I just havn't bought as much Nintendo stuff.

If I had bought DKCR and the 3DS as I originally planned, then I would have made it. But, as it stands I'm at 130 coins for this year and even if I buy DKCR and do all its bonus' I'll still be 100 coins shy.

I guess I won't get my calendar this year. :(

Still haven't found one item worth using the coins I do have on. I have over 800 total and nothing seems appealing.

They should put up download tickets for VC/WW or 2yr old games for xxxx coins.

Supermario was a loser and took both dsister and dsister44 on the website. Since then I've been giving my codes away as I didn't want any other name. 

I haven't bought any new Nintendo games this year, but when I do the codes are up for grabs
