And this salesman said he had just received 8 Wiis. Within minutes, folks snapped all but two of them up. And she started contemplating ... and saw a customer going to the display case and she said 'Sorry, that's mine!' And finally picked it up. The woman bought the last one.

I think she said all of the Wiis were sold under 8 minutes.

Off topic, I don't see the thread, but I was at a local Best Buy, though, I saw like 36 Premiums, 10 Elites and like 40 Arcade 360s. The PS3 stack? 64 of both of the 40gb and the 80gb.

This is what I've heard pretty much everywhere right now.

It'd be nice if Nintendo would catch up with supply so I can recommend buying a Wii to people with a straight face again...

Wow that is pretty amazing...seems like it is getting harder and harder to get a Wii these days...

Actually, technically you really can't call another person a kid just because you have a beard...I had a beard since I was 14 so it would be still weird calling another person a kid when I was still a kid with a beard myself.

That doesn't suprise me that those wiis got snatched up that quickly.

Another thing to note though is the rapid drop in eBay sale prices. Some of the systems are selling for below retail, and this was not the case a week ago.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Yea I just checked it, prices on ebay have fallen from selling for 450 to around 350-

to many people were trying to resell, and not enough people were will to pay 450, Free Market Economy- it levels off a bit.

Wow... that's like a HEAP of stock.

I wonder if this will hurt Sony next qrt... post Xmas sales will drop off, and it might take a month or longer to clear all the stock. So sales will be there - but shipments be lower than sales for once.

Sure, it's supply and demand, but that's not terribly useful as an explanation. I imagine that eBay prices are falling because we're getting so close to Christmas that you can't be sure that it'll get to you in time, in which case you might as well just tell your kid that you'll get one for him the next time you see one in a store.
