I see all this love and hate for the company pointless, what's the point, really? It's not like their PR guys are trawling the web looking for potential groupies. Really, if anything people should love the product rather than a company, hating another product just because a company makes them is just silly and stupid in my honest opinion. I find the whole "I won't buy 360 cos MS makes it" stance really stupid as I find the whole "I won't buy Wii cos Nintendo makes it" etc for PS3 too. If I like the product, I buy it. What company makes it has no relevance to me whatsoever.

What about the "I love everything Nintendo's ever made, so I want to support them" statement?

I never truly hated the other companies (Except Sony) I just wanted to see Nintendo do good. I loved Nintendo's products and would rather spend my money supporting Nintendo then spending it on competitors products. I would rather have seen Nintendo succeed then Sega or Sony.

The only reason that ever changed was A) Nintendo said they were no longer competing with Microsoft and Sony and B) because third party content on Wii became unbearable!

Well if the console is shit and is poorly received it's pretty poor basis to buy one when there is better alternative available on the market, I understand the whole brand loyalty concept but it's taken a bit far if people will get to the stage where they purchase products that are absolutely pants just to support the company, failure should be punished and success should be rewarded, usual reasoning applies to the case of games too. I like BioWare but if they release something absolutely pants, I am not going to go running to get it, maybe a rental but I can't justify buying shovelware just because I like company, however there is a once in a bluemoon chance of Nintendo making a crap console, albeit small. Same goes for every other gaming console manufacturers :p.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Well,..

I haven't yet gotten around not hating the xbox division of MS. But I don't hate MS in its entirety. Its pointless to hate and I don't hate them as much as I used to.

Its funny though because before this generation I loved MS more than Sony. I was a PC gamer and I had top respect for MS for making Age of empires 2 and 3. I didn't think twice about getting an xbox 360.

But that was probably because I had never owned a PS family product, now its all PS3 lol.

with me, i hated the snes ( i had a mega drive ) it carried on to the 64, then gamecube and more or less with the wii now..

I was a ps1 fanboy, xbox fanboy that never owned one (when i could afford my own console xbox's stopped being brought to aus) so i got a ps2, this gen the xbox fanboyism kept but it simply was more or less a choice between halo vs ffxiii (wasnt multiplay at the time) i chose halo. So now that I have all 3 consoles I side with the 360 as it was my first console of the gen. Wii I gave to my cousin and Ps3 is mainly my blu-ray player and for exclusives :)

While the Xbox 360 is my favorite console by far this generation, I can understand the hate they get.  I admit that the RROD and disc drive issues still leave a bad taste in my mouth.  I can see how Sony fans can dislike them, too.  M$ was like the kid that copies off of your paper during math class but knows that you got question #21 wrong and somehow makes higher than you on the test!!

In the end, it all comes down to one thing:  "Am I having fun?"  At the end of the day, most of the time, I can answer "Hell yeah!"  So it doesn't matter to me who copies who, who has which exclusive, or who sells more.

Well, I was a Sony fan ('98-'06)

Then I was a Nintendo fan ('05-'10)

Now I'm a fan of quality games, which is both!

MWAHAHAHA!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

The biggest irony was that I spent much of my life hating Sega.  I finally bought a Dreamcast and realized that they were a pretty good company.  Almost exactly ONE WEEK later, Sega announced on CNN that they were going out of business.  I had learned to love but I had learned too late.

How's that for melodramatic?

I think it is better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all. R.I.P SEGA DREAMCAST, I guess the world was just not ready for the Awesomeness.

I was a blind PS3 fanboy three years back. I'll say that much.

QFT. same here.

I was once a HUGE Nintendo fanboy. When everyone moved on to Playstation I was still playing N64 and to this day I still consider PS1 the worst game system I've ever played a game on. I only got a PS1 because of Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style. It's the only game I've ever owned for PS1. When the PS2 was being released to all the hype and fanfare I was so mad! I was working in the electronics section at a Walmart when PS2s were hard to find. I remember 1 coming off the truck and I called my brother to come buy it for me because I couldn't get it while I was working. My intension was to sell it at a higher price. When I couldn't move the thing I decided to play it. From there, I had turned to Sony.

It was hard working with an XBOX fanboy at that Walmart because I'd tell people from my personal experience when I thought PS2 was better. He'd just say XBOX was better because it had better graphics. At this point though I only own a PS3 and a Nintendo DS. My PS3 is my prized posession. I like MS but I'm not a fan of XBOX. I'm actually indifferent to the console. The Wii however, I heavily dislike that "excercise machine". I think it's pretty much ruined games for the younger generation. I see all these younger kids playing it and thinking that it's the future of gaming when in actuality it's more of a kids toy than a game console.

I hate that I've turned on a company I so once loved but it's just that the Wii has crap that outweighs goodness by such a huge percentage. I'm happy for their success but I'd much rather a console like the Gamecube enjoy it than the Wii.
